What is happiness?

From the land of haribos.

I was listening to someone who talked about an interesting report from the institute for quality of life of what they define what happiness is.

They mentioned that it have nothing to do if there is a big population, but rather the infrastructure and buildings.

There was few points like:

1 Good education system

2 Environment

3 Many international companies

4 Good traveling connections

So, it is not that citys with big populations are happy, but rather the city itself, I find that interesting, dont you?

The conclusion of "what is happiness" have nothing to do with the experience, but rather how the city is looking.

What is your view of it what they think what happiness is? I find it interesting and there could be something in it too

Happiness is so many things and those things will be different for everyone.

For me, happiness is freedom.

It's a roof over our heads, food in our tummies and the ability to do things we want to do.

I think happiness is in the here and now.

It can be here today gone tomorrow and this happens all the time.

A collage degree or masters will help achieve and so will a big salary.

But it all comes down to the same thing

Happiness ebbs and flows

Happiness is when you lose focus on the external and focus on the internal. When you are at peace with yourself, content with what you have and remove the negative energy around you. Happiness is a process and you can't be happy everyday but choosing calm over chaos makes that process easier.

I would absolutely agree with this...looking externally to bring personal peace and happiness is short lived

Arthur Schopenhauer, German Philopsopher, 1788–1860) wrote extensively on "Happiness" ("The World as Will and Representation" is his most famous work), but many others exist, and he influenced Einstein, Nietzsche, Tolstoy, Schrödinger, Wagner, to name just a few).

I think people can lose themselves seeking it - ‘if only we had this/did this we’d be happy.’ and it can materially affect people and relationships adversely.

I appreciate what we have, know it’s okay for our needs, grateful for help given but I don’t think ‘I’d be happier if’ as some things I’d like are probably unobtainable at this time and in my circumstances.

That may or may not change in future and I don’t want to use another stock phrase but I ‘work around the edges’ where time and opportunity allows.

At times I wonder at time lost, but again can’t change that.

Happiness is a stage of mind of being content with what you have.

Craving something other than what we have is what makes us feel unhappy.

Which is why social media and the Internet is an absolute curse on mental health.

Comparison is the thief of joy.

Learning to be content with what you have and not be constantly seeking more is the true state of bliss.

Whether you live in a mud hut or a mansion. Whether you have the love of a dog or the love of a beautiful woman. Whether you have million followers or one good friend.
