It’s that English breakfast serve yourself buffet…

What are you piling up on your plate? Or are you dainty and just want a slice of toast and a posh single pot serving of marmalade ?

Coffee

Fresh orange juice

Cereal with yogurt, berries/fruit, nuts honey

Small fluffy cheese and mushroom omelette with a couple of slices of crispy bacon, a sausage ( of good quality as I am particular about that) and a grilled tomato or two and some brown toast.

Another slice of toast with orange marmalade and more coffee

A choice of croisant, cinnamon swirl, marble and/or almond cake with that last cup of coffee

And grab a banana for the road.

Agreed, with a few personal alterations. Smoked bacon, grilled tinned peeled tomatoes and no mushrooms for me.

Disagree though, toast, always toast, lots of toast. Tasty for dipping and making mini-bacon sandwiches.

Always loved finishing a big breakfast as a kid with the family on a Sunday and there would be a large plate of half cut buttered toast to nibble on after for ages.

Baked beans.

Nooooo, no dippy yolk. The yolk is for eating, last thing left on the plate, that perfect yellow package, egg white all cut away and consumed, gently scoop it up and into the mouth and softly pop it on the tongue for full yolk consumption, every yummy yolky drop.

I know what you mean Candy, it’s the same with the carvery, I don’t object to people having a big plateful, as long as it’s all eaten, it’s when they leave half of it.

My ideal breakfast for special occasions like holidays etc starts with a glass of buck's fizz. Hot, freshly brewed coffee follows with plentiful toast, butter and thick cut marmalade. Sausage, tomato, mushrooms and maybe a poached egg is next. A couple of tiny pain au choc or apricot Danish sits waiting for me to nibble while I will my third fresh coffee. To round off its Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts and a piece of fresh fruit.

I think that covers it.
