Fab let's be serious for a second.

Super serious.

No seriously seriously serious.

What the fuck defines sex addiction from just being horny and loving a good giddy up on a fine person?!

Ever worried YOU have the addiction?

I had wondered previously. But I’m of the opinion that although I may be close, I don’t quite fit because my standards are still

Incredibly high, too many stipulations to be met to warrant it… I’m not an anything, anyone, anytime, anywhere which would define a true addiction

An adiction to me means its out of control, problematic in the real world and needs an outside intervention because you dont have the internal resources to deal effectively with it. Nymphomania being an example. Most people are just greedy rather than suffering from an addiction.

So you're only ever addicted to something if it turns sour?

When it takes over other aspects off life

And bleeds in to it

For example home life with children and stuff you like can’t take them to football practice or game or whatever sports or extra activities they do because your going out to get your hole or dicked down

When it bleeds in to work life ie you start to skip days off at work because your going to get your hole or dicked down

When it takes over other aspects off life that’s when you have a problem

I won’t go not too much detail.

But it stemmed from feelings of shame & guilt after sex amongst other many of things.

I think the difference is I don’t think “normal” horny people wouldn’t let their urges effect their family, employment, finances, morals or standards. I think most people know not to engage in potentially dangerous activities just to get their end away

I dunno

That’s essentially the proper medical definition of an addiction as I understand it.

I think the addiction word get massively overused in society and, as a result, it gets watered down immensely. An addiction will destroy your life - getting a bit grumpy because you don’t get your end away isn’t even close.

I mean sex is on my brain the majority of time, I would define myself as addicted, just cause I won't ruin things for it I think about it and the urge is there. Luckily we are both nymphomaniacs so it helps. Issue is more I get more I want this is why we like moresomes

Watch the film Shame with Michael Fassbender.

Sex addiction ruins lives as it’s more to do with a lack of impulse control as opposed to being super horny.

I think the interference in your day to day activities. It’s debilitating. It is that you can’t function without a fix. It’s wanting more always. I’ve spoken to people with it and it’s not just oh I’m horny everyday and have to have a wank. It’s way more. And people have talked about SLAA saving their lives. Helping them get control.

Love and support to anyone struggling

Addictions, whatever they are ruin lives, yours or those around you.

This. Having experienced a partner with a sexual addiction, it's the lies, deception & the ignoring what they know is right/wrong because of the poor coping mechanisms, inability to communicate their own, or respect others' boundaries & the burden of shame that makes it an addiction. So much more than a person just being really horny every day.

If person had sex most days with a different partner, yet kept it apart from the rest of their normal life and didnt allow it to impact on family, work, or other friendships, would that be classed as addiction ?

Somehow I doubt it.

It only becomes called an addiction when it starts to interfere with normal llife events.

There are many esc0rts who do precisely that and yet still lead a normal life when they are not meeting clients.

And yes, they do it for money, but sex is sex whatever the reason.

Like any addiction it’s the difference between enjoying it and it controlling you and having negative impact on things like work, relationships, finances.

I love sex and want to do it a lot but I’d never let it get in the way of work, family or friendships

sex addiction most seem to see it as a funny and almost acceptable addiction. But when you struggle to control it then it can be just as destructive as other addictions.

I have some pretty weird ways I play in swinging and my 'ways ' so to speak are to help me keep my addiction on check.

I could have sex pretty much all the time.. before I got it under control, I was awful. Things like ringing in sick so I could have a day at an adult cinema. Jumping my partner way more than was acceptable.

Forgetting to pick my kids up from school.... that's just a few examples

Obviously it's still hard to keep it in check but I've learnt to a certain degree.

I Try not to act on every impulse

I limit my play with others to club interactions and have restraints within that.

It isn't all roses... it can be soul destroying.

I'm now finally in the last 5 or 6 years able to say I have a handle on it. Although I do use my urges to do some gg events... as the stamina and wants drive me and its fun. However its in a controlled way ..

I've found falling in love utterly has helped too

.. although the urge to ravish Mr all the time is sometimes overwhelming xx

Could I be a ‘gateway shag’ to full addiction ??

A very good flick!

I suspect some will only think about sex addiction as something you're over indulging in at the expense of other aspects of life.

But it can be just as harmful in the case of those who aren't getting any sex at all. An addiction to the desire for sex, and an expectation that somehow you're entitled to it can be just as dangerous. Not just to those with the addiction either.

To me, the latter is often more worrying than someone who perhaps uses sex as a means to fulfill their life, make themselves feel better and who needs it to feel valued.

Both are problems of course. But the second one seems to be on the increase and more common than the first.
