Glasgow / London

I woke to golden shafts of light streaming in through every window. The dog was lounging in a sunbeam. Birds tweeting all around.

With some trepidation, I made my way out to the garage and opened the door for the first time in five months. Never know what you’ll find after a long break like that.

The car was dusty, with a few bird poos on the roof, but it fired up first time and rumbled away nicely. I gave the windscreen a wipe, put the roof down, popped my sunglasses on, and went for a nice gentle drive to break it in for the year.

Happy days are here again. The wind in my hair, sun on my face, and the symphony of quad exhaust pipes splitting the silence on the open road. Lovely.

(I put the car away again half an hour before the rain clouds came over. Everything’s grey again already. )

High Lighthouse!

It's an odd time of year. My birthday is towards the end of March, so I maybe notice a bit more.

I can remember years with snow, and others running round the garden in my pants. I tend not to do that these days (the neighbours aren't that keen).

This morning has been lovely, yet I got soaked through walking back from town yesterday.

I hope so. It's beautiful isn't it?

Feels like a hopeful time of year. The daffodils are out, it'll soon be time to make wild garlic butter and I'm looking forward to dusky nights discussing any and everything with those who are dear to me.
