I might be having issues with my boss. Im just returning to work after illness and my new boss seems to be taking the hard line.

I dont need the stress to set me back .

Ideas how to deal with him? Confront or jump through stupid hoops.

EG. im signed off atm to return next week, as he doesnt have the sick note in his hand, he expects me to phone in everyday despite knowing i have a sick note and that I have been seeking treatment as per DR req whist sick

Who your boss is, Hitler?

Why are you so affraid of him?

Go back to work when you are due to return and hand him the sick note

There is nothing he can do

To phone on a daily basis is harassment, pure and simple.

Talk to your HR dept. if you have one, mail them your sick note, and inform them you'll be back in.

is there an HR department or union representation

has the doctor suggested a phased return to work with reasonable adjustments made for you

reduced hours ?

retraining if appropriate

have you has a face to face with the boss and spoke through that you are looking forward to returning and getting back upto full health over a period of time.

is there published HR policies on site

is there OHS services that supply to your work

lot of replies, thanks a lot.

Hitler he is not - more a doormouse, but his is very disarming, in one respect hes offering a decent phased return to work, the next he expects me to pay privately for tests or to harrass the NHS for results. My concentration levles are not what they were and in all honesty it threw me for a answer.

I suppose travelling in an hadning it in would be easier . Im not in a Union no, but HR have been excellent - that is an ave I could pursue, been off far far far to long for stress to now be an issue

It all depends on your company policy in relation to sickness and return to work.

If the policy is to ring in every day until you produce a sick note then that is what you abide by. Why haven't you sent your sick note into work as soon as you had it

Sounds like you've done all the right things then

Get that sick note in to HR, they like paperwork

Keep talking to them, and ask all communications from your boss to go through them

agree the phased return to work if you feel you can deliver against it., push the NHS.. there is nothing wrong with that as it is also in your interest to get the results for your own peace of mind and overall improvement in your health, Is there a Employee Counselling Service available to do or seek advice from the Citizens Advice.

Work together with him to resolve your concerns. It is n both your interests.

good luck and all the best to get fit and well.

Ah well get it to them as soon as you can. Lots of companies are tightening up their sickness policies.

im sure your work will have clear sickness policies .they will make clear whats exspected from you and whats exspected of your work .

speak to your HR department and voice any concerns .they are there to ensure your return to work is suitable for you and provide any support you may need. end of the day your work will want same as you to get you back to work and not off again .

I think you need to inform them that they are not allowed to phone you at home if you are ill and have a certificate.

Its classed as harassment.
