I am trying to book a holiday with my GF and kids.

When before departure is best to book a holiday?

We are looking at flying at end of June 2024. What number of weeks prior to departure is best value for money.

Basically use an Incognito tab and clear your browser history after you search. Saturdays are good as most are busy so traffic is down on booking sites. Shop around a bit but have a clear idea on hotel location (more important than destination) do you want busy, near the beach etc.

It depends were you are going, international, I would book 6 months prior - around Europe 3 weeks prior and in Ireland around 1 month.

Depending on the age of the kids book as soon as you can so that you know it’s is booked and that you can get seats on the flight next to each other.

Or as far away as possible from the kids lol

When you book early you often get the discounts and are more likely to get a better room for example.

If you leave it to the last minute then you don’t always get things the way you wanted to have them

I’ve my research done. Down to date, location and hotel type. And we’ve decided on hotel.

So I’m thinking do we just book as it’s what we want and it’s within budget

Probably because I’d like it cheaper lol

But all in all it’s on budget, perfect flight date, top hotel ( all inclusive, on a beach, etc etc)

I’m swaying towards just booking it

Do it. I doubt it'll get cheaper. If it's in your budget, go for it and don't check the prices again! x

don't forget to book your holiday insurance as soon as you book the holiday- then you're covered even if its months away.

Don't be buying the cheap shit either, did that once, saved about £40 over the whistles and bells policy with minimal excess...cost me £400 when i needed medical treatment

If you found what you want book it.

Check all your passports Turkey requires they are valid for 6 months after the date of entry to Turkey.

If you have less than that you will be refused entry.

Excellent advice. Prices go up if your browser cookies show you've got a quote but didn't buy anything.

The EU Schengen area requires the same.

Don't forget your Health Insurance Card for the EU if you go there. We still have a reciprocal agreement but you should also book comprehensive travel insurance too.

Book 2/3 months in advance and add a day or two or less depending how long you’re planning on going will save £££s,also check from different airports within reach,it’s a myth that you need to delete cookies you’ll still get a good price regardless if theirs any availability for dates you want

With Quidco it’s best to clear cookies if you want the CASHBACK to track

And what’s that got to do with this or my post on pensions?

Surely a thread about booking a holiday and booking holiday insurance have some connection.

Yes possibly. But my issue is I posted a question on another forum thread about pensions and you referenced on that.

Apologies if I have offended you but your pensions post was about how best to reduce your debts so I suggested not booking a holiday. I was trying to be helpful. I also offered you my condolenses yesterday when you told us about your sister.
