I pop in and out of the forums now and then. It does seems it always the same people posting. Considering the amount of people on this site I wonder why more people don't join in here?

I reckon maybe 5% at most of the members use the forums, maybe 15% use the chat rooms and the majority just use Fab to contact people to do all of the hard fucking. Horse for course bro!

It's you!

Or

People aren't bothered by it.

Just use the site to arrange meets.

Or many other reasons.

New posters are great and I wish there was a higher % of site users dropping in, and contributing more. It's good to get others opinions and you can learn a lot - whether newbie or what many regard as 'seasoned veterans'!

Plus it's a great way to get to know others and make new acquaintances. I'd love to see something on the home or registration page advertising the facility - but it's free choice as to whether to use, just read, or dive in and contribute!!

Some people are simply not very good at expressing themselves,so a public forum would not be for them. I respect everyones opinion, regardless if I agree with it or not. Some would take people not agreeing with what they say to heart. In other words you have to be thick skinned and comfortable with criticism,to enjoy a public forum.

Don't worry! Most who appear to be 'great friends' have probably never met outside the forums!! Jump in whenever - it's all good fun (and great networking ) - even if unlike paddy, some of us have only met/shagged/shared a coffee with 1% !!

I often get private replies from people that read the forums but don't post in them. When I ask why, the main reason is they don't want to risk being flamed.

Obviously that's not specific to this site. Some people enjoy forum participation whilst others find it daunting.

As with the chartrooms there are "regulars" and newbies. We have tried the chartroom for the southwest. Started out by saying "hello room, did everyone have a good weekend?". Out of a room of 40 or so souls, three responses..........

As for the forums, yes there are "regulars", and some of their response can be a little confrontational or intimidating to newbies.

Sorry if this reply offends, but this is us (newbie forum users) responding to the OP's question, afterall, it was kind of directed at people that don't write in the forums very much......

I am surprised at the negative comments. Many can't post through not being verified by other users and not trusting the photo verification system. It comes across as though people who can't post shouldn't comment by pm.

I try and make the effort to join in and comment on other people's posts. I'm a newbie when it comes to posting on the forums but I think I've been well welcomed because I try to add to what others have said (and maybe cos 2wheels has been posting on here for such a long time I've been able to pick up some tips from his posts).

I've noticed it's the same kind of posts which get shot down-those who complain why can't they get a meet or self pitying. It is quite intimidating for people who haven't posted before but whats the worse that can happen? It's not as if a forumite is gonna reach out of your computer screen and give you a slap!

If you read the post I was referring to it didn't mention people can't post because they were not verified.

Now again, this is exactly what I meant on my post, the thread will always take a turn for the worse, so let's get back to the OP please.

Thanks.

I know that but there are many reasons why people dont post but might pm and they are not all explained as trouble causing which came across as a pretty negative comment. My point wouldnt have been made if you didnt move the thread in that direction.

Other people probably don't post because they're doing other things with their time. Crocheting, fly fishing, who knows?! I've posted on forums on other sites in the past as I've enjoyed the debates, the banter and having my mind pushed. I also do enjoy a heated argument when it's called for!

I think it's great that fab has 3 different ways for members to communicate-chat, forums and messaging as this ensures that there's something for everyone.

I didn't know what a forum was before joining in. I was a chat room regular and enjoyed that a lot but I got bored of the hi's and bye's that can sometimes consume chat ( not slagging it off, just impacted the flow of chat at times ). I found the forums and thought, 'wow, they are a spunky lot' and have enjoyed it.

I soon realised that people use it in the same way as chat, that had gone completely over my head.

It has been good to see loads more new contributors join in.. it must be daunting at times and can be a touch unwelcoming but on the whole it is a supportive, encouraging community.

Click on your little green arrow on a post and you'll see the other threads you have posted on. It took 9 months on the forum before I knew about that. There's also a little tab on the left that says something like 'see your recent posts' - I only spotted that two weeks ago.
