"I like the farrow and ball ones but I'm not rich so I usually go with Dulux. I gravitate towards the creamy browns, black, emerald green, that sorta thing" I found my main wall colour by trying to dupe Farrow and Ball. Ended up with something some distance from what I was trying to dupe, but I love it all the same.

"Bright primary colours! But my interior design advisor tells me that I have to be subtle, apparently 1960's psychedelia went out of fashion and I'm not allowed to give people psychotic breaks. Then when I say "oh very well, magnolia will do", I get shouted at " Magnolia, apart from the shrub, is evil and should not be encouraged. If you want a deep, warm, orange room - you have it.

"Farrow & Ball most of the time. Little Green sometimes, when F&B just isn’t hitting the spot." When I got super into splitting hairs over paint colours, I ended up spending far too much time looking at Dulux Trade paints. I really like how they lay out colours

"The trick is not to bother with the paint charts. Go into a F&B shop and play with the big chunky painted samples. Then take tester pots home and paint lots of pieces of paper that you can blu-tac to the walls and see how the light falls on them." Oh absolutely. It's what I ended up doing - starting with dupes for a F&B colour that has been suggested to me. Ended up going lighter and warmer because of the limited indirect light I get in here

"When I first started looking I had my heart set on Dulux Heritage Green Slate. Looked awful as a tester on my wall. I love the idea. Not in my damn house though " Hate when that happens I spend far too long on the Internet re designing my rooms for when I win the lotto

I've done all the walls in my flat and am onto skirting boards and doors (gloss white, very boring )

Not mine!) | |||

Either black or something like a navy blue, with off white walls - it's striking without being overwhelming

Got into a long conversation with the guy at the paint mix counter about how shit F&B paint actually is and how much of a rip off it is (his opinion and he sells the stuff!). He then mixed up and exact match for one of their colours for half the price.

" Oh I've got Valspar on my walls too But as a starting point - most people seem to start with the designer colours to recommend. Either F&B or Benjamin Moore. A friend recommended F&B Theresa's Green for me, so I used online tools to pick up some Dulux testers that were supposed to be similar, and chose after staring at them for awhile
