using Paypal

I've set up a paypal account to accept money for an event I am helping to organise, and was wondering how I keep track of who has paid.

I was thinking of asking them to put their profile name as a reference when they pay, is this possible or do I have to ask people to send me the email addy they paid from?

i organise lots of eventskn here and that's what I do though some forget..but if you tell folk to let you know when they've paid u can work it out if theyve forgot

also get them to send as a personal gift as u dont get charges which say 60 folk can soon add up and ultimately comes out your pocket

If you have a smart phone there is a PayPal app. It will then message you whenever you receive a payment.

Can't remember the charges exactly, however, I vaguely remember it is about 3.5%. They are listed clearly though on their website.

The Scottish social organiser have been using Paypal for a while... have a look and maybe a wee message to one of the organisers may shed light on it... I thought if it was a gift there was no charges but I may be wrong

As mentioned above, use the "GIFT" option to avoid being charged by Paypal. You should be able to list the previous payments in order to keep track of payments

Just tried to send a test amount as the paypal account is now up and ready, but unless I'm doing it wrong I have to create an account to do it?

Cant people just use their debit/credit cards to do it without setting up a paypal account? I think one or two may be put off if they have to set up an account.

The only way to send funds through PayPal is to set up an account. The reason they do this is to verify the card holder. I agree with you, they should be able to accept payment without setting up an account.

Saw in the paper a couple of weeks ago, that they are trailing new services so hopefully thing might change.
