When you get a quote back from a servicing with recommendations, how do you decide what to pay for when you are clueless about such things?

They're only recommendations that they think need doing. I would take it somewhere else for a second opinion

Normally recommendations means that stuff that might need doing in future had two recommendations for my two front tyres changed them straight away brakes engine all okay

I would recommend you find a good local garage. Speak to them in person, create a relationship with them so you are not just another number.

Speak to the mechanics and ask what they think and recommend. Then most will be honest and give you good advice. Main dealers are far less likely to do only what is necessary as their labour costs are so high.

When i lived in the States we had a good relationship with the garage in the village and i trusted them so i think the above to build a relationship with a local one is great advice. Its hard because I'm so clueless.

K. Such as what recommendations, many dealerships garages have 'upsale' targets so would be good to get some context.

If not capable yourself often fast fit centres do fixed price brakes etc?
