Male trying to bring Mother’s Day down…

This morning I saw a post on Facebook from a Male which went something like this…

“Big shout out to all those single dads out there doing all that the mother should be”

My question as a single dad, should we really be bring Mother’s Day down to this level… we fathers have our own day and there is plenty of single mums out there doing exactly what us single dads are.

I think this sort of post is out of order and not needed. All mothers should be celebrated on this day and it not brought into disrepute by such people.

Hard thoughts. Hard.. Some mothers play mum and dad. Vice versa. I just embrace all on both days. Least we not forget people every day though. Happy parents day

I don't think it's bringing it down. On father's day I've said something similar. I think it is important to recognise the people who do both as well.

There shouldn't be any bringing anyone down, mother's & fathers both go it alone & both have days of recognition.

There shouldn't be a mums and dad's role or a man doing a mums job, it's a parent's job to raise their kids

regardless of gender.

Blowing out someone else's candle doesn't make yours shine brighter.

Mothers day can be bitter for some people and it's bloody hard raising kids whether you're a single Mum/Dad/Carer/Gaurdian.

We don't know what experiences people have had in their life which shapes their views on the subject. Mothers day can mean different things to different people

How else do you explain the like “doing all the mothers should be”?

I can only interpret it one way - and that’s that the guy doesn’t think men should be looking after their children besause that’s the mother’s job.

My son’s mother wasn’t great and that’s why he now lives with me… but she is still his mum and brought him into this world.

Maybe the guy posting is venting the fact that his child’s mother isn’t involved in their life so he’s filling both roles…

hey mothers should get praised everyday as should dads, one day a year makes no difference, also their are good mums and good dads and visa versa

I don’t see the point in it to be fair like already said we have Father’s Day. My sons mother has seen him 3 times in the last year for 5 minutes each time but I still wouldn’t feel the need to pull down a day devoted to mothers.
