What actually are they. I know nothing about them. There is one advertised at a large venue near me. So enlighten me

Read about them and they were so exciting I've forgotten. I suspect they are for virgins and business who don't want the expense of DJ's, electricity and subwoofers

I believe its a disco but everyone wears headphones to listen to the music instead of it being blared out

Went to one at butlins 80s weekend in January

Basically you are given the choice of listening to 2 or 3 djs playing cheesey 80s songs that only you can hear, also have the option to change to who you want to listen too

Aww no they're fun. Generally people are listening to something different so looks really funny with people doing their own thing. They have them in venues like the London Aquarium which I bet looks amazing at night.

I've not been to one since my uni days though.

Paper Town Central, Essex.

They're great fun.

You pick up a pair of headphones on entry.

You don't hear any music until you put them on and there's usually 2 or 3 or sometimes 4 dj's playing music.

Yes, there really are dj's there.

You can switch between them.

All different styles and genre's of music, and you can flick between them.

Lighting etc all going off and some people usually singing out of tune when you take your headphones off.

They really are great fun

I went to a silent disco social last month. I was a bit sceptical and not sure what to expect as it was my first silent disco but I really liked it! You could choose out of 3 stations and control the volume on the headsets. I actually spent a lot of time blethering to people but it was nice not having to shout over loud music! It was a bit different and think it’s a good idea for a social - get to have the option to chat to folk and also get to get your boogie on

Dubai & Nottingham

I really really like them. The ones I’ve been to always a live DJ - no stations.

Typically outside on a roof terrace with a bar and barbecue really nice relaxed environment.

You can get up and dance over by the DJ, you can relax in nice comfy recliners and zone out of the music, You can take your headphones off talk to people, actually able to have a conversation. You can smoke Shisha have a meal and cocktails, it’s perfect imo.

Deepest darkest Peru

One of the best nights Ive had was at a silent disco. It was on a nighttime cruise of the Thames with three live djs on the lower deck. The sights alone as we cruised along, the London skyline all lit up was wonderful but the atmosphere and energy from everyone on the boat was amazing. everyone’s headphones turning a different colour as they switched djs and at the end of the night for the last song all three djs played the same track. Everyone was up on the top deck dancing away, singing their hearts out with an illuminated London Bridge in sight

Absolutely awesome night

You'll never know until you try it. I did it once at a festival and I really enjoyed it!

As a watcher, it is funny working out what people are listening to, by what dance moves they are doing. It kind of spoils it, when people start singing the chorus.

La la land

I love them, if you're a people watcher they are so interesting. But what is amazing you can dance like a looney pull your headphones off and speak to your mates without shouting. And you don't have the ringing in your ears the morning after win win.

What i don't get about this type of club if youre both dancing to different tunes how does that work or has dancing not progressed, rhythm not progressed and don't you all feel like dorks dancing around a silent dance floor with great big stereo earphones on
