A bit of both. If people didn’t get hung up about who they have sex with and engaged more often with different people.

I think the world would have fewer mental health issues.

This site can impact on people mentally, you only have to be on the forums long enough before you see a member getting upset because they are getting no meets.

I agree with you I thought I was addicted but then embraced my bisexuality and admitted it to my other half and a professional sex therapist all of the anxiety left me, we are both bi and very much in love, it’s a nice feeling being that open.

I'm absolutely thinking this mostly, our animal counterparts never seem to concern themselves with the sexual activities of the entire rest of their species haha

There's a huge difference between addiction which affects your life and being horny often.

Absolutely, I think it's a mixed bag on here because it can seriously knock people's confidence if they come on here with the notion that this is a "turn up and get to it" website and then still no luck but for me I have actually felt better for being in such a place that I can ask honest questions like this without judgement and that society is just the perception given to us but real people have more relaxed views than perception would suggest xx

Why not both?

Any natural pathway can be hijacked by addiction. Addiction is more measured by the escalation, damage and preoccupation than the act itself.

Addiction is usually suppressing something, most likely they are getting validation they need from others. It's not the sex they are addicted too, it's the feeling of being wanted by others.

Otherwise, an excuse used for cheating

That is such a great step to take. Romantically I’m straight, but sexually I’m bi. My wife doesn’t know I’m bi, I have a high sex drive and she has none. I could say this does affect my own mental health, until I get a fix, and then I’m good for a bit.

That's absolutely spot on, I just think that while addiction to drugs or alcohol for example where its an external chemical that we can overuse and can be harmful to our health and also our engagement with society and is quite rightly seen as damaging substance abuse..sex is something that we are supposed to naturally enjoy as a species but our levels and ammout of this enjoyment is judged by society mearly on how it is itself affected by the knowledge of it and somebody who enjoys it "too much" is labeled an addict

imo horny while under judgement can lead to bad behaviours. Lying and cheating.

And to a degree people then use addiction to justify bad behaviour.

I totally get that not having needs met is hard. And we often take the "easyx route out here. So no judgement. Been there. Done that.

Addiction is more than that tho.

Sneaking out for a drink with your mates when you were 16 wasn't addiction. Even if your mum forbade it.

Stealing from your OH, skipping work to hit the boozer early, drinking increasingly more, is addiction. Even when it's legal to drink.

No. Addictions are unhealthy patterns of unintentional coping with unhealed or suppressed issues. They can affect your ability to form & maintain healthy attachments, cause unhealthy behaviours like lying/ cheating & can be a patchfix or crutch. Addictions can affect your sense of right/wrong & communication, & can be a symptom of wider mental health issues.

In a healthy state of mind, having a high sex can be fun, harmless and intentional

This is exactly my thoughts guys, there are things that our body's just need and I see by the 1000,s of people on here that we are not alone but we will suppress this all 'out there, at home , with friends just so as not to be hated

.sex addiction is not a light hearted thing... it can be life altering. I have to keep rules in place for mine. I've put myself in danger in the past

This is absolutely where I seem to be at in life right now, it's draining on my thoughts most of the time

Light hearted it certainly isn't, sorry this was a sarcasm in contrast to the less thought inducing posts around in the forum lounge when I posted xx

Clearly you have never let anyone with it. It's very serious and destroyed my relationship.
