Hidden Profiles - one for the women

I get that you're inundated with messages the moment you're available, so you choose to hide it and go through messages to get on top of the backlog.

So my question is this, does hiding your profile (a) stop anyone/most people from messaging, and (b) for those that do continue to message having not seen your profile, and who aren't "friends"/known: do they tend to fit a profile and what openers do they tend to use?

I'm asking because I can't imagine anyone would take the time out to message a blank profile.

In relation to your last paragraph I will add that I don't understand the thinking behind hidden profiles messaging others especially when they've never engaged before.

I reply to every message I receive but like most I will look at the profile first and if it's hidden my reply will always be more guarded.

Can your friends still see/go on your profile when it's hidden? I assumed it hides from all so can't go & start a message with hidden accounts

When you hide it no one can see it.

As others have said, when I hide mine I get far less new messages but there is still some incoming - even on my second profile which has been hidden for over a year!

no, but you can still message people when their profile is hidden

I guess for those sending messages to hidden or silhouette profiles, it's like going into a darkroom in a club.

Years ago on a previous profile I fabbed a couple of pics on a profile and sent an introductory message referring to something in her bio.

She replied asking how I knew what she had written in her profile as it was hidden?

My first thought was that she had hidden it after I had fabbed and messaged but when I went back to look I could still see her profile and told her so.

Long story short, she had two profiles with exactly the same pics and bio with 30+ verifications on each and seemed a little confused as to which one was actually hidden at that particular time.

Needless to say it was a short conversation
