Dubai & Nottingham

IMO they are pretty amazing. They challenge us, inspire us, cope with constant change like no one has ever had to , have pressures we never had and economically far reduced opportunities. They really have to be the best to get ahead , we just had to be good.

I love the attitudes and energy , and yes in many ways they have learned to ‘tolerate’ us older generations because their world works very differently. But I don’t take it personally.

They make very talented and loyal workers if you can figure out the right way to manage and support them & are interesting dates too.

Guess I’m taking about people 18-28 ish

Let’s big it up for Gen Z !

Having been a young person myself, I guess I admire (and miss) the ability to be so passionate and forthright whilst also being so incredibly ignorant and naive.

They’re no different to us older folk. They’ve just been born at a different place in time. Their focus on modern technology was pioneered by the generations before them. They too will be pioneers for the generations that follow them.

When they get to our age, after years of hard work, maybe they’ll feel just as disillusioned when the next generation calls them out on things that weren’t even part of their lives, but are still accused of!

So. Young people, I love you, you are the future of the world!

Really? I don’t see how.

We were luckier in some respects, but that doesn’t mean we fucked anyone over. For example, property market … I bought at a great time but doesn’t mean I fucked anyone over.

I work with quite a few and they are often far more accepting and welcoming than people my own age or older.

They are often far more switched on and driven than they are given credit for.

Sadly with the world of social media, they don't get to to enjoy being young and carefree in the way other generations did. There's no escape and the pressure is awful.

I think they are great.

The property market's not a bad example.

The generations who benefited from grants to go to university and then affordable housing now rent out properties to students who incur greater debts to study than their landlords mortgages.

Same generations responsible for them losing their ability to work, travel and live in the EU etc. etc. etc.

Very simplistic views.

I don’t believe in generalising about entire generations. And definitely don’t believe in me being blamed for apparently having it easy … we have been through some bloody difficult times, recessions etc

No, I didn’t have university grants, I paid fees. And nobody handed me the postgrad or prof qualifications, I had to work my ass off for them.

Never blamed you for having it easy.

I blamed the generations who drew up, voted for and implemented the policies that led to considerably less prospects for those who are younger.

Generations who drew up policies? What?

I get that people voted for governments, but I don’t recall citizens assemblies or anything of that nature, drawing up policies like you suggest.

As for having less prospects, more kids than ever go to university, more skilled jobs than ever, I don’t buy into the doom and gloom … or the apparent guilt of my generation for “fucking over” younger generations.

Most of my dates seem to be with early to mid 20's. I do find it hard to actually find a level to bond on outside of the physical attraction.

Me too. I just inherited a team of people aged between 24 and 29 they are pretty amazing young people, very open to being coached and mentored. Their passions include clubbing & gaming & loyalty confuses them a little but we’re going to have a great adventure getting to know each other, our differences in style and they will become best in class / world class within a year

I said they’re alright.

Some are not assholes.

An age group doesn’t make anyone special, in fact, I can relate to that age groups general stereotypical attitude a lot in some ways. And I know why my boss has me looking after our young apprentice in work, …. Because I’m immature.

My experience of young people hasn't been good either, my own children are the exact opposite of my experience with young people in the area i live, they are all devoid of education, no ambition and cheeky little sods, i taught my children great life skills, showed them the world encouraged them to have hobbies, i just dont see that in any of the kids in my area now

Even if Tough Love worked for some a generation or two ago, I can’t assume it all work now things are very different.

I can’t begin to imagine what it must be like as a child going from age 7 to 8 to 9 to 10 and everything changing around me and everything including my own life being online, And my parents being obsessed with little devices posting me on Instagram & Facebook, & consuming so much time using Fab & Tinder leaning me with a tablet to occupy me . I imagine by age 12 I would’ve had some kind of a nervous breakdown through lack of stability and attention
