Self improvement - physical and mental

Over the last few years I've been trying to get fitter and look better naked. I work a physically demanding (at times) but often sedentary job as a lorry driver. There is a lot of mental stimulation watching and anticipating situations, but very little thinking.

Fairly recently I took up chess online (ask me for the site and username if you want a gane). And I've within the last week started doing wordle using an app which is so full of ads it's maddening. So I've been using the new York times puzzle page and been "enjoying" that. I say enjoying, it's been taking me between 60 and 210 minutes to do the crosswords (that is with the auto check on), and I can feel my head pulse. But I keep chipping away and try to get better each day.

Does anyone do puzzles on here, does anyone get that sense of relief when it's finished?

Following this for the puzzles ideas as I do exercise for mental and health wellbeing but never thought of the puzzles thing.

Search for NYT puzzles. You get one free of each type everyday (then you have to pay) but in all honesty by the time I've finished them. It's plenty.

I don't think it matters how long it takes to complete a puzzle.

Scrabble app against the computer. Usually win, but odd time not.

The suggestion thing that says ‘you could have played this..’ is annoying but I keep it on to remind me I’m okay at it, not brilliant

Oh I do.....2-3 hours for the NYT crossword is ridiculous. I think I should be doing it sub hour. Then when I'm doing that regularly around 45 min max. The problem I have is I'm to literal for the clues.

I’d say the good thing is I’m thinking so hard that head zones out from other stuff

I don't think it's a competition. Improvement is good obviously

I like to think of it as competing with yourself.

It's a murder mystery as a logical puzzle

Struggling so much with these crosswords. I seem to come up with every answer but the one I need.
