If you could recommend one book for the opposite sex to read, to better understand your sex, what would it be?

War and peace/Anna Karenina. When it comes to capturing what drives different kind of men, there is no better writer than Leo Tolstoy.

Dostoyevsky rolling in his grave…lol

On a serious note. Tolstoy is a genius and your recommendations are superb. Regardless of gender just read them.

I watched the movie recently and couldn't stand the main character. Is he less of a prick in the book?

I think Dostoevsky is a great writer when it comes to expressing philosphical thoughts. His characters are just vehicles to convey his philosophy and because of that, the characters tend to look a bit unrealistic. But Tolstoy's characters are much grounded on reality and look like people you run onto everyday in your life.

I personally like both of them. They are good writers in their own way.

My recommendation would be “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy.

I think that’s a fair point and the argument that Tolstoy is the best writer is a very strong one.
