Our village was so quiet and devoid of traffic. Just birdsong, and the sounds of people occasionally. You could walk down the road without cars roaring past. It was actually very peaceful. I miss that.

It was a complete reset for me.

I had no option other than to slow down and look around me.

I lost my job after being on furlough for 6 months but that allowed me to find a job with much less stress and responsibility.

I have two admit I do in some ways, I manage to save up a bit and got a few jobs done when everything was allowed, I would never have thought of coming on a website like this before Covid, and I don’t know, it just seemed different. But that’s not taking away from anyone who lost people during this

Literally the only point I tested positive was the start on 10 days leave pre booked. So I ended up staying in the house for that. Then back to work

No, I don't. I had 'good' lockdowns, and even enjoyed bits of them, including the sense of peace that descended on places.

But I would never want to do it again. I missed seeing my friends and family properly and realised how much going to the gym meant to me, when I could no longer go. I also never want to do any Zoom socials ever again.

Getting building materials not so easy in fact it was one of the busiest periods of my working career getting job's done that you wouldn't normally ever get the opportunity to.

Only problem parking was a fucking ballache as everyone at home no spaces available for actual workers.

My husband was home as he usually works abroad.

It drove him round the bend working from home.

He still can't understand why anyone would prefer being alone.

Our neighbour works from home and works through the night as he has a business with overseas partners.

He loves it but does travel from time to time so maybe best of both worlds.

For me, I love going to work but I couldn't work from home even if I wanted to, just love working with others.

I totally understand it was a horrible time for many people. Personally though, I really enjoyed the peace and tranquility and the simplicity of life.

I think it showed some madnesses of modern life.

It showed me I don’t need much - a book, a musical instrument and somewhere to have a walk were enough.

I did work full-time from the first summer though.

Worked throughout and by that I mean quite literally every day. My work didn’t change but I didn’t have to put up with a whole bunch of arseholes on the road or in the shop, I was usually the only one in there so whiz around get what I want and out again.

All the places I needed for work stayed open so no problems there.

I loved the fact people were becoming a community again and not all about themselves. People started to restore my faith in humanity and show that British stiff upper lip.

I liked the fact I could vanish into the hills and see nobody.

I taught myself how to shoot a bow.

But. Home Schooling. So fucking hard. We got through it though.

The constant worry of going shopping and possibly bringing the virus into the house and making my already vulnerable mum ill, that was not great.

"I enjoyed the peace. The garden filled with the sound of loud clear birdsong.

"

Couldn't hear the birdsong above the racket of an out of school teenager constantly bouncing a heavy football on a nearby patio and randomly throwing the damned thing up and hopefully, through a wonky netball hoop on a metal pole with a rattly unstable metal base.

Drove me crackers. his mum wasn't too keen either but largely unaffected because she wasn't outside very much. She got him a lighter plastic ball which helped reduce the noise but I don't think it was macho enough for a dunk slammer. He went back to the 'fwoop' ball.

This went on for months. I could tolerate the saucepan drummers. They did a good job saving the government from rewarding NHS workers financially!

Paper Town Central, Essex.

I miss the quiet roads, even in the city, but I don't miss the fact that I did 3X the work as most of my colleagues were furloughed.

4 out of 16 of us kept the company running I'm the area that we cover, and being on call every other week instead of 1 in 5. Not being able to take holiday and not being allowed to carry more than 5 days over to the following year but not being paid for the other 22 days I couldn't take and not even getting a pay rise that year, just a quick email saying thanks.

Like hell do I miss it..

Central

There were many positive aspects of it, including quieter life, cleaner roads, some pressures were reduced (others added of course ), plus time to slow down a bit. I was 100% adherent to the law, as atrociously as the government managed the whole thing. I found it extremely hard to have been so disconnected from others and thank God there were some tiny crumbs of positives

I definitely don't miss lock down. I work full time in public care sector and part time in private care sector and I didn't have any conditions to merit isolation. We worked our hardest with zero escape. Currently workload continues to worsen with no reprieve. I do feel it has taken its toll on me. However I won't ever forget the impact it had on those we cared for and lost.

What was not to like about it.

3 months paid holiday, when I did go back to visiting clients, the roads were empty.

The joy of a video call, wearing a skirt, hold ups, and heels to work.

I actually enjoyed shopping, as I didn't have that impatient twat at the checkout tills, standing so close you can't move without them bumping into you.

I got a chance to get back into photography.

Only thing I hated was that I put on weight,,so it wasn't all good.

That might be true to an extend for then. Since then people seem to have become more selfish than ever before, businesses have dropped the quality of products and services using that as an excuse years later and even ptofessional services that should be face to face are done on the cheap on a quick phone call. People wfh as a result of companies finding cheaper ways to operate have started to miss the benefits of working with others, not just the paractical benefits, but those to their own well being. There will always be some that these changes arr benefiting but hardly everyone imo.

The peace , quiet , the lack of aircraft, empty roads and clear sky's , it was like going back 150 years. But , from my point of view , we continued to work pretty much as normal, so it was idyllic . However , for many it was awful , such as my friend , couped up in an upstairs flat , with 2 small children , and , only being allowed out for an hour each day.
