Hanging a picture above your bed

And other decorating/ swinger questions. Is it worth doing? It might look nice. It might be hazardous.

I have been asked if I'm hanging a mirror above my bed, but I think they mean above in a different way, and as I only have one bed, sometimes my parents come to stay and I sleep on the blow up mattress so... I think that's a no.

Would always be on my mind that it may fall on me so I wouldn’t hang anything close to the bed

I've been looking at my bed thinking about just how good it'd look

On the ceiling or the wall? We have a huge picture above our bed. So far so good but if I'm not on tomorrow you know what's happened

Mirrored ceilings are a great fantasy that's a bit tricky to execute in practice. If you do go for one, I'd advise high quality reflective plastic mirrors rather than glass (for safety reasons). If you do not want to install them on the ceiling, tall dressing mirrors are cheap and you can have more than one... it you want to go hi tech, get a video camera, put it on a tripod, hook up the camera to a 50-in TV hanging on the wall opposite to the bed. That way you can lookmat yourself from any angle, just reposition the camera

We have a canvas above our bed. It’s only stuck on there with command strips. Mind you, it’ll hardly cause an injury if it does decide to fall off

Given that things have fallen off the other side of the wall that my bed is on - anything about my actual bed is a no no

I have two pics above my bed, I like my ladies there, they've never fallen due to a banging headboard.

I hung a large mirror above the bed headboard at the old house.

As long as it's securely fitted (brackets screwed to the wall rather than just hung on string) then there's little danger of it falling on your noggin overnight.

The UK isn't a hotbed of earthquakes so you should be fine.

The wall. The ceiling would be a fantasy of a mirror, but we maintain the myth in my family that my siblings and I were found in a cabbage patch and are all still very innocent indeed...

Be fair though - a bloke on a crucifix with just one nail holding him up was never going to work

One of my earlier (18+) boyfriends had a picture of Jesus overlooking his bed.

It made me distinctly fucking uncomfortable

I have a large mirror at the head of the bed which is held on screws which fit into slots on the back so very unlikely to fall, and a smaller one on the wall opposite the foot of the bed which hangs from the picture rail.

It was Utah Jesus, which helped somewhat, even though I was still religious at the time

Depends on your walls. If you live in a new build then I wouldn’t bother. My knicker elastic is stronger than some of the plastering I’ve seen.

Well, I learned that female orgasms weren't a myth a couple of years after I was with him...

I had a large canvas above my bed until one night when it fell on top of me ..

Luckily for me it wasn't heavy and apart from putting the shits up me as I was sleeping at the time it fell no damage was done.

I definitely wouldn't put anything over my bed again..

The picture I want is an oil painting with a glass front and a proper frame
