"The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has announced a major success after it's Badger cull reduced TB in bovine, which is a breed of domestic cattle used in beef and dairy production. Is it time to allow more hunting of Badger and secure our food " Recent reports to the government has criticised the methodology behind culls and raised questions over effectiveness. This is from those working within DEFRA. In light of this and the fact only 15% are reported to have TB i wouldn't want to see culls increased.

This is from those working within DEFRA. In light of this and the fact only 15% are reported to have TB i wouldn't want to see culls increased. DEFRA have got many things wrong recently so I doubt they have the correct facts here either, Some of the messing about with general licenses (species allowed to be controlled) Including magpies being removed in wales from the license, for those that don’t know this time of year lambs will have their eyes pecked out while alive Badgers not only spread TB but predate all sorts of wildlife and should be controlled/culled under license " Yes they are reducing numbers of ground nesting birds and hedgehogs as the the badger has no predators to control their numbers in the UK.

"As someone that lives in the rural countryside and actively shoots, have had various farm animals on our land too. I'm not against shooting badgers. However is the cattle on the fields are tested healthy, then it's probably best to keep the badger set alone, they're probably a clean set and killing them could invite a set with TB to move in. Sometimes better to leave alone too. It's knowing which is best. When out cattle are tested, if any test for TB their all destroyed and it's considered contagious. Why just pick on badgers, yet totally ignore horses crossing farmland on bridleways, lots of deer roaming about at night, hares, foxes. I see all sorts of activity. Not all animaks listed may spread TB, but it's not just badgers to blame. Yet they're the only ones singled out. Also why not vaccinated against TB? As for the protected wildlife. Herons ought to be taken off the list as they're not endangered anymore and devestate fish ponds. I'd take otters of the list too, for same reasons above, yet some folk are trying to encourage the pests " Would agree with you 100% on the Heron and otter situation, causing serious damage now So action must be taken to control As for badgers and the connection with TB it’s evident that as their numbers have increased so has TB in cattle Deer carry TB but very low infection rates with some (Chinese water deer) having no real evidence of disease Ultimately deer are stalked and managed anyway so this could be a reason for low infection, having said that of course they are still a concern as numbers are at an all time high in all 6species in the uk , Red,Roe,sika,CWD,muntjac, and fallow of which only 2 are native Reds and Roe Everything else you list as a concern can be controlled in some form The badger cull must continue under license by appointed marksman Mr
