Nice cheerful post on a Saturday!

What’s everyone’s favourite song lyrics that are really sad/ depressing?

Noel Gallagher we’re on our way now….

Remember what might have been

Had I walked you home and said, "I'll see you later"

You were living the dream

But when the morning come, you'd gone to meet your maker

Good luck in the afterlife

I hear the morning sun doesn't cast no shadow

You chose to drift away

But look at you now

"Anything by Radiohead for a start."

"please could you stop the noise I'm trying to get some rest from all the unborn chicken voices in my head"

Is that depressing?

I have extensively. Yes he can be funny (when he's not being racist) and defiant and whatnot in part but to claim many of his lyrics aren't sad is just inaccurate.

This is from someone who loves The Smiths and Morrissey's earlier solo stuff.

You’ve only gotta look at the bloke to start feeling depressed, that’s before he’s opened his mouth and started singing.

A den in the Glen

The only song out there that really makes my hairs stand on end. Every time:

I know you think I'm holding you down

And I've fallen by the wayside now

And I don't understand the same things as you

But I do

And there's no remedy for memory, your face is like a melody

It won't leave my head

Your soul is haunting me and telling me that everything is fine

But I wish I was dead.

Leeds

She walks to school with the lunch

She packed

Nobody knows what she's

Holdin' back

Wearin' the same dress

She wore yesterday

She hides the bruises with linen

And lace

The teacher wonders but she

Doesn't ask

It's hard to see the pain

Behind the mask

Bearing the burden

Of a secret storm

Sometimes she wishes she was

Never born.

Concrete Angel - Martine McBride

It's funny. Quirky. Surrral.Yet also pretty depressing, yes. Sounds like the protagonist is mentally ill.

Does TY have an obssession with squirrels too?

He's a funny guy.

Agreed. Johnny Marr must have been fuming for years.

Ahh, The Shangri las, a classic. What about Ray Petersons Tell Laura I Love Her, very tragic.

Well I mean over the years he's been pretty disparaging about immigration, the Chinese (calling them a sub-species) , comments over Stormzy at Glastonbury and the 'Black pop conspiracy. I mean loads of instances. He's become everything he so detested in his early days.

- National Front Disco??
