Tin town

A few years ago I was sat watching the footie with my young child. 3 or 4 years old I reckon. The reds were playing the blues. I asked her what team did she want to win. The black team she replied. No no, there isn't a black team, which team do you want to win. The black team she said again. Puzzled now,and slightly concerned she may have had some cognitive impairment, i said OK, can you point to the team you want to win. She waddled off the the TV screen and sire enough stuck her finger on the ref.

Now... Just remembered it today as city are taking on United, but made me reflect how as we get older and wiser we often blinker what we see as adults, that kids are open minded and understand.

Anyone got any similar experiences where kids have blown your mind?

Medway

Grown up and sometimes otherwise “intelligent” people beat other people up for saying that the red team are better than the blue team (or vice versa)

Shouted at my kids “come on we’re late as it is”

The reply was it’s my fault!

I replied errrr why ?

To which the answer was I should have started shouting at the earlier

You should know it's always your fault!

I like to take my friends kids to art galleries, including the teenagers.

They are always, without exception, thoughtful and insightful.

Took my kids when they were little to a local sheepdog trails. Mainly because the refreshments were cake and tea !

Anyway after watching several sheepdogs take there turn my then 7 yr old daughter stated very loudly that it was all rubbish. Shocked because I thought they were enjoying it I asked her why? Her reply, " not one dog has managed to get those sheep to jump those fences ( obstacles) !

St Albans/ Welsh Borders

My kids attended a CofE School, one spring the local Vicar had popped in to see them. Fair enough, that's what happens when you choose CofE

On pick up time the teacher walked my little boy over to me and I could tell by his face that today was not a good day.

Teacher went on to say that the Vicar was not impressed...apparently he was talking about how God made the animals and people and everything else in the World....my little boy asked 'if God made the World and everything on it then who made God???

The Vicar was not happy and my boy got told off for being 'disruptive' I asked my boy what happened and he said that he only wanted to know who made God?

I then told the teacher how unimpressed I was at the attitude towards a curious mind, telling her that I always encouraged my kids to be curious, to question what they don't understand and what message does it send when the grown ups responsible for nurturing and guiding shoot them down for their curiosity.
