Dubai

I lost my job last year and didn’t work for over four months other than the odd day freelance.

Today after nearly 3 weeks of interviews, psychometric tests, role-plays and business simulations,I landed my dream job, Off to Thailand and the Philippines next week to meet my new teams and start a new adventure !

I am relieved & excited.

Thanks! Not really thought about celebrating tbh …..I’d already booked IMAX tickets for Dune, so that & maybe treat myself to new hand luggage!

Pro Tip: Forget the local ladies (everyone chases them) and go for the expat ladies (unjustly neglected by expat men).

Haha, last thing on my mind tbh.

I tend to exercise a lot of self control in places like Southeast Asia & West Africa….

"Well done I'm almost a year on no work spent all afternoon on application yesterday to see today was delayed without being read "

I feel your pain. I don’t know what it’s like in the UK but here in Dubai you get over 1000 applications per position advertised.

Even the most skilled and experienced people say that getting a response is rare never mind an interview. You really have to network & access the hidden job market. Most good positions never get advertised.

Good luck. Feel free to dm if you need help or a chat , I have over 100 colleagues laid off & so far only 2 of us found a job, it’s really tough here.

Oh yeah It was intense yes, And zero feedback for three weeks until this morning

Worst part was the debrief on the psychometrics particularly the Hogan HDS Darkside test, And the business simulations so much information & so little time. The role-plays and interviews and taking the psychometrics I really enjoyed all those

Thanks!

I love it too - so friendly & love the prices - a red horse beer for 40 pesos or a bottle of tre cepas for 300!

I’v actually only ever been to Manilla , Ilagan city & Santiago city & briefly , now I’ll be in Cebu , very different , even a different language !
