I thought it was to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women?

Right, total barbarian! Totally omitted any mention of drinking wine from their skulls

" life is not what you get but is what you become though out your time in this world!!. "

Maybe I’m being a bit dumb but I don’t get what you mean by this at all.

‘Life is not what you get’….does that mean that life is not about the possessions we accrue or the money we make, or does it mean that life is not something we’re given?

‘But is what you become’….so does this mean that who you are is more important than what you have, so it’s better to be poor and kind than rich and horrible….

So that would mean that a homeless person who’s always kind and good is in a better situation than someone who owns their own house and is comfortable financially but isn’t always kind and good. I think that someone who’s sleeping on the streets in the freezing cold and the rain would give up being kind and good all the time for a warm, dry bed every night and money for food every day. I think that a good and kind person who’s being held captive against their will would give up being so good and kind for freedom.

I think that a more accurate statement would be something like, ‘life is about working hard to provide yourself with a comfortable life and being the best person you can be at all times.’
