"I’m seeing an increase in people messaging to say they are moving to my area in 6-8 weeks and looking to make connections to meet. The accounts are normally new and are unverified. " Me too... repeated messages exactly the same, months or even years apart! All insisting on being sent a 'current' face pic, despite a not too old pic being in my gallery... nothing dodgy about that huh?

"I don't give tips in regard to this. I've seen numerous people on various threads say they've never been caught out by a fake profile and yet so many of those same people respond to threads started by fake profiles and I don't just mean grenade throwing troll profiles. " It’s a fair point!

"I've never come across a fake profile and I'm not militant enough to pursue them or have them sanctioned. It's not really a concern for me." Same. Same. But *why* aren't the Fakes messaging me, Nero? I want fake 20-somethings pretending I'm God's gift, dammit.

"With the abundance of fakes here and even in the top photos section I would like to know what you do to verify if someone is genuine! Firstly I scour the pictures, see if they are taken on an up to date camera as everyone has a phone now so ok reason for fuzzy, blurry or old pictures. Secondly, I check out the background and look for British fittings, furniture and carpets - so many supposedly American ladies on here with thick carpets (actual carpets ) Lastly, verifications! Read them all, if they are lines and lines of one lines they are fake. If a man meets on here it’s the usual spew and story, not a one liner! I saw someone with 100 plus the other day and all one liners from a one month period. Probably giving the tricksters tips, but what do you do to filter the fakes? " I go by the saying. If it looks too good to be true it probably is.

" It’s not about attracting when you are browsing profiles, it’s about dodging! I have been caught out a few times, or potentially as somethings just do t add up. For example; I have been speaking to an older leader for weeks and yesterday morning she referred to herself twice as ‘her’ mid sentence. I can only presume that it’s a man using his wives or fake pictures.

"From my experience, fake profiles red flags are: 1) No photo. Black silhouette. 2) I prefer photo verification, for safety. The Fab company has that person’s image on record. Hence, these profile persons are less likely to do something illegal. 3) Published verification has no validity. You can create numerous fake profiles with no photo verification in a few minutes. Then these fake verifications can give verifications to each other. I have come across many fake profiles that have published verifications. But I have not come across a fake profile with a photo verification. When I say fake, I also include those who may be here to make some quick money, rather than genuine swinging or socialising. For this reason, I prefer club meets. Best way to meet real people. In terms of published verifications that I believe users look for, I find them hilarious. Flattery/ego massage of the highest order, very little sincerity. They usually begin with something along the lines…. Wow, when I saw her I could not believe my eyes… Wow, I don’t have words to describe her … Well, what can I say, I don’t know how to describe her… " Regarding point (2)….being photo verified doesn’t mean that they’ve sent a face picture to get verified, it can also be a full body naked picture without the face shown. I’ve watched a few documentaries about people getting harmed in some way when they’ve met up with someone they met online and the person who harmed them always had genuine pictures on their profile. So uploading a face picture to a dating or chat site doesn’t seem to stop people doing something illegal at all. If only it was that simple….and someone can get their profile photo verified by sending a picture of just their naked body without a face shown, and then upload a face picture of someone else’s face as a profile picture ….so a profile being photo verified doesn’t prove that the face pictures on that profile are real…. A profile can only be verified by an already verified profile, so creating 2 profiles won’t allow someone to fake verify themselves, they’ll just have 2 unverified profiles. If someone has a profile that’s been verified by someone else then it’s possible to create a fake profile and verify that and keep doing that so that you can verify the original profile multiple times. But that profile has already been verified by someone else so there’s no real need to get a load of fake verifications, and it would be absolutely obvious that they were all fake verifications because profile that’s set up just to make one verification will be so obviously fake.

" Thank you for explaining. Points noted. Never crossed my mind that an account can be photo verified without a face photo being verified. I agree that a photo verification is not 100% proof that a person will not do something illegal. But it definitely goes a long way in acting in making it safer. I have seen the difference in clubs that are strict about saving proof of Id. If they know they can be eventually tracked down, they will think twice, unless they are d*unk etc. It’s good to have this discussion and raise awareness. Like I said before, I meet only in a club. I do get invited to hotels and homes. It doesn’t matter if it’s a couple or a single lady inviting, clubs are best. I have posted in another topic. Single male as Fake couple. The skin colour of the account holder and/or partner varies. I never noticed American light fittings etc. I wouldn’t know. What I do like is some people’s great sense of humour and wit. Example: female published verification meeting with male: He showed up. (without saying anything bad, she has conveyed that there was nothing great worth writing about)

So the clubs that don’t keep a record of ID don’t have any other way of knowing who’s in their club then? Do any of them ask guests to sign in or anything like that? Or can people spend a night at these clubs without the clubs knowing they were there? I don’t see why foreign light fittings etc would be a sign that a profile is fake as people often travel to different countries fot holidays and take pictures while they’re on holiday. "What do you do to filter the fakes? I watch out for profiles that can't be bothered or are actually unable to get a green flag via being photo-verified. You might like to get your profile a green flag OP??? Stops people wondering if you're fake. Up to you of course... " the 'holding a bit of paper with your username and site name' as a verification is laughably easy to get around. Even basic editing programs are good enough to pass muster for the few seconds the photo mods have to approve or deny a picture...
