Went to the electrical wholesalers to buy a lightbulb today. Not any lightbulb but an energy saving dimmer friendly bulb. They don't stick them because they are too expensive. But they do have halogen bulbs which are dimmer friendly and energy saving by default. I already have two different types of energy saving bulbs, normal bulbs, candle bulbs, large globes, small globes pearl, clear, normal low voltage halogen, fluorescent tubes, halogen tubes, a heat bulb and a security light. All this in a two bedroomed house. I came out with a carrier bag full of bulbs and I still don't have all the ones I need to replace everything that has blown!

I am all bulbed out

Don't think that because you dim a light it saves energy...it doesn't it uses up the extra energy in the form of heat in the transformer as it reduces the output

if only it were that simple, I walked out with halogen, 62 watt, because the didnt have 72 watt which is the equivilant of a 60 watt. A 122 watt which is a 100 watt equivalent and two others. The heat lamp will need a change of fitting soon from a bayonet to a screwfit. And I just remembered, the uv tube needs changing soon as well

100W light bulbs are to be phased out by the European Union.

This means you will still be able to have ideas but they won't be as good as they used to be.

Do not try this. Ok? DO NOT TRY THIS!

If you put an old fashioned light bulb in your mouth it's impossible to get it out again. Apparrently due to the shape and size it causes your jaws to lock and the only way to get it out is by breaking it, usually at a hospital.

This I know due to a quite funny story about a guy who tried it for a bet, then had to go to hospital with a lightbulb stuck in his mouth, where the doctor had to pad his mouth with cotton wool then break the bulb and fish the bits out.

The funny thing is that he went by taxi, and the taxi driver found it amazingly funny.

While they were in Casualty awaiting treatment, another patient was admitted with the same problem. You've guessed it - the taxi driver....

Two of course. The only problem is getting them to screw, in a light bulb.

The most energy efficient bulbs are LED ones and the light quality on them has improved drastically these days. And they are dimmer compatible.

No dimmer in the bathroom

now realised the cooker hood needs a new bulb plus two tubes under the kitchen units, electrical shop now has an assistant on permanent standby just for me
