My nan’s spare room.

This little quote is a chant from Carry on up the Jungle, but I’m concerned it was a call to arms from Willy Wonka to send his minions shop lifting.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure they could stick stuff up their jumpers easily... didn't they have their dungarees over their jumpers?

That's some contortionist shiz if so

Ooh valid point. I’ve noticed there’s plenty stuffed up your jumper.

If they stole a lot, and a security guard got really miffed, would they become an Oompa Loompa Bumper Jumper Thumper?

I am going to be an annoying dickhead now...

It doesn't actually come from 'carry On up the jungle' (though it is used in it)

It's actually taken from the raucous ending of the Beatles song 'I am the walrus' which was released 2 years before that film you can hear it in the cacophony of noise if you're paying attention.

I suspect it is a phrase that people were just using to be silly and The Beatles then put it in a song, and subsequently was put in a carry-on movie.

This has been a Brill_Phil fact of the day. See you all next time. *credits and outro theme plays*

There is a song from 1935 by The Two Leslies called "Umpah Umpah stick it up your jumper"

This is great stuff guys! I've hijacked this thread and turned it into a trivia exchange!

I still maintain the first use of "Oompah Loompah stick it up your jumper" was the beatles. No doubt taken from the Two Leslie's song.
