AVG is the easiest. Download from the Google play store.

being free as well, it comes with Anti-theft if you set it up on the website.

Unless you download a lot of apps from untrusted sources, theres no point in getting it. If you use just regular apps like facebook/guardian etc then you should be pretty safe

I had similar come up on my Xperia t and then the phone kept telling me I'm at risk, so I went fot the McAfee upgrade (set up already on the phone) payed the £17 install fees, and my phone is now protected, but I do think something isn't right with the phone still, ie changes where you are when writing a message? Or often I get 2 identical txt come through, x

"Lookout is a good one too."

Another vote here for Lookout - not just a scanner to make sure your apps are all free of nasties, but it will also do clever stuff like contact backups and even locate the phone if its nicked or lost (depending on GPS). And it's free!

Make up your own mind:

"Back in January, we reported that the number of malicious Android apps in circulation is predicted to grow to one million this year, as malware continues to grow explosively on the platform. In 2011, just one thousand such apps had been detected, but this figure had skyrocketed to 350,000 by the end of last year.

Unlike with more closed ecosystems such as iOS and Windows Phone, the onus is upon Android users themselves to take control of the security of their devices, and the fact that so many less experienced users even understand the implications of downloading malicious software on their handsets is a big problem for the platform.

So perhaps it's not surprising that Apple's Phil Schiller, the company's senior vice-president of Worldwide Marketing, decided to remind users to take stock of their device security with a tweet, in which he simply stated "Be safe out there", along with a link to a Mobile Threat Report from security specialists F-Secure".

If you are among those people who use top class apple Iphone and windows mobile operating system and don’t give importance to the so called Android operating system than here is a good news for you infact you are one step ahead of Android in terms of security and purposes and you would have nearly less chances of being the victims of cyber crimes. According to a survey Googles Android enable smartphone is the most less secured smartphone and can be easily hacked by hackers. According to MacAfee (anti protection antivirus software making company) one malware is taking birth in every second so one can understand how unsecure we are or I should say Android users are. Apart from the application downloaded from google play store, Android also supports third party application and every 6 application from 10 application is being designed in such a way that it will either destroyed software/hardware or stole the useful application from Android enable smartphone and your security would be no longer giving you antiprotection. Because of large number of android user hackers are trying to make android users as victims so stay safe. No Operating system is 100percent secure even Apple Iphone and windows operating system could also be victims but they are designed to avoid malwares and are more safer than Android.

Hmm, I wonder why a company that sells a cure would say something like that.
