Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria

The girlies were round t'other night and we were cracking on about all sorts (as girls do) when one of our number said she was definately going to have Botox injections and was saving up for them...we all immediately asked why she wanted to inject botulism into her face cos she's a year younger than me and astonishingly pretty (as could be proven by the fact that her Fiance is also rather gorgeous and 20 years younger than her!)

As again is usual with women, she proceeded to pick up on the most minute flaws (to us) and did mention that as she got older then these flaws may become more apparent, and especially with having a much younger partner she wanted to keep looking her best so Botox seemed a way of keeping time at bay

The consensus amongst the gang of 8 was 2 definates for botox, 3 againsts and 3 not fancying injecting botulism into themselves but not averse to other forms of surgical help

So fellow forumites, have you or would you? And if you have - are/were you happy with the results?

I've had it done to my forehead twice now. Last time was one month ago. I frown a lot and was getting lines which were not horrible but I did not like them. Now I can hardly move my forehead and it is nice and smooth. Most ppl don't notice anything different about me but it makes a HUGE difference for me.

personally as a man i would rather not, and would grow old naturally, but any procedure like this must carry a risk. like wise plastic surgery, i would only have it if i was disfigured in any way, and not just for cosmetic purposes, and just for the record i am happy with the way i am.

Not for me. I don't think they know enough about long term effects. What if in 20 years they find out that the toxin eats your face away from the inside?!

I really don't like the lines around my eyes and on my forehead, I have a very expressive face and I'm sure that's making them worse. I have thought about botox but I think the feeling of not being able to move my face would freak me out, it gives me feelings akin to claustrophobia just thinking about it!

the only animals that can survive botulism are vultures, they can survive up to 100 times more dosage than humans can.but you never see a pretty vulture do you?

Thanks for that, really glad it's made a difference for you - at the end of the day, that's why we have these sort of things done! So do you have to keep having it repeated as it wears off?

I did question whether that was Harley St, Wigan as I didn't see a Harley St, London specialist running a sideline in Arse End! She's promised to do all the research before going ahead, but at the end of the day it's her choice - she might yet forget about it, she's known as a right flippertygibbit in our group

A friend of mine had her forehead done and she's 15 years younger than I. It does make a big difference though

Not sure if would have it, I think I will just age disgracefully lol x

Think you have to be a registered nurse or Dr to inject Botox. Obviously completed the relevant courses to be licensed too.

The only 'routine' I've had is laser eye surgery and yes will admit it was a bit of a vanity thing. I hated wearing glasses from morning to night and also hated not being able to wear decent sunglasses.

Would I have botox or plastic surgery, sorry not for me I intend to grow old disgracefully.

TBH if I am guaging a persons age, I tend to look at their hands anyone remember the pics of Madonnas hands?

Flaws? What flaws? This is normal ageing. Nothing wrong, bad or ugly about it. I wouldn't do a thing. I wear little make up, some days none at all. As far as I'm concerned I look just fine as I am.

Yes, wears off after 6 months so needs to be repeated.

Mine is done by a plastic surgeon, takes about 15 minutes and costs £400.
