Heading to lakes in a few weeks and either looking to stay in Ambleside or Ullswater. All tips and advice welcome

Spend an hour or 2 in Grasmere. It's a small village that's close to both ambleside and ullswater and is very pretty.

If you're into long walks-

Ullswater itself is great for long walks (park at glenridding) , as is rydal water which is very scenic body of water right next to ambleside.

Beautiful part of the world. I live it up there. Took my son for the first time last year.

My favourite place is Keswick
