If I'm chatting on here about meeting in a few days, and I want to wait to give my number until closer to the time, am I being a dick? Just got blocked for not giving it out immediately.

You're not being a dick. You shouldn't feel pressured into giving contact details.

We’d never give our number out anyway.

Telegram or here.

If you don’t feel comfortable giving your number - don’t do it.

Do FAB your way - not anyone else’s

Dont know why you wouldn't give your number out, you're going to meet them, its easier texting than them missing a mail in the numbers people get. If they say anything you don't like you can block them.

It’s not necessarily that simple. Some people have numbers connected with social media, work, whatever. They may not want that connection being available.

If I ask for a phone chat it is probably because there is something about the chat or profile that is making me wary and I want to check the other person is who they say they are. If they were wary about the phone chat or prevaricated then I would back away from the conversation. I would probably block and move on.

Seems an odd way to meet... I'll be the guy in the yellow jacket next to the post box at 1pm. We can take it from there?

Can use messaging apps, Skype etc. but yes would make it more difficult.

Most people don't get told why they're being blocked, they just get done.

There are hundreds of reasons why you'll get blocked but it's better than being stood up. You need realistic expectations, including that most people are not mutually compatible with most other people, so the majority of chats won't lead to meeting.

It depends really on how long you’ve been chatting with the other person for. If you’ve been chatting for a while, like a week or 2 weeks, then it seems a bit strange that you won’t share your number as that should be enough time to suss someone out properly and get a feel for how genuine they are, if it’s only been a few hours or just a few messages then it’s completely understandable that you’re wary still.

In my experience no one who’s asked me for my number straight away has been genuine, I have a second number that I use just for chatting with people I meet online, it’s not connected to any social media so no one can use it to trace me, so I’m happy to give that number out to anyone. As soon as someone asks me for my number straight away I know they’re fake but I give it to them anyway to see what they’re up to. Most of the time they will send me some pictures and then ask me to send them some in return or they will ask me if I want to buy any videos of them having sex….

couple, us we him her.

Isn't this the point of having verifications to prove you are real?

Besides this is another reason why we always have a social first.

We don't give numbers.

Verifications can be faked very easily though so they don’t prove anything

if they don’t fit into what you are about and how you do things, remember that you don’t fit into theirs too. You just don’t match up.

If I am going to trust someone with my body I'm more than happy to trust them with my phone number.

If I was planning to meet soon & someone didn't want to give it I'd find it strange to be honest.

Although I wouldn’t give my real number to someone I’ve only just started talking to, what harm can actually come from telling someone my number? I don’t really know why I am so wary about sharing it. I’ve tried googling my number and nothing comes up about me, I’ve even tried googling my number with my name and there’s still isn’t anything. They can’t steal my identity just from knowing my number either. The worst thing that I can think of is continuously calling my number and using different numbers when I block them but why would anyone do that? And im sure it’s possible to block calls from anyone who isn’t in my contacts to stop that happening.

What does waiting until closer to the time actually achieve? You clearly weren't comfortable with exchanging numbers so they moved on, which seems understandable. K.

The fact that youve agreed to meet and agreed to give number but not until closer to meet time would actually make me think you weren't serious about meeting, that you were looking for better options
