not bein Irish i didnt do anything.

I wonder if making St Geores day synonimous with drinking would make as many English people celebrate it as much as they do St Patricks day?

It's just an excuse for a piss up !

It's that time of year when anyone with an Irish grandparent or great grandparent suddenly decide they are Irish too despite the fact they were born here and have never been to the Emerald Isle in their life.

All that to justify gettin pissed and wearing a stupid hat and ginger beard.

Similar lines of descendancy are also used by those of Scottish lineage to justify wearing a kilt at weddings

steady on, I imagine a few Irish born people may celebrate too, and there's nothing wrong with that ?

Its celebrated big here, lots of us have some Irish in us, just enough for us to 'celebrate' the day. Great atmosphere in town, good bands on in the pubs and happiness all around. Nothing wrong with that I say

Last time St Georges day was celebrated to any great degree in this country many men went out and drank beer, then went out to hunt dragons.

Many, many ex-wives went into hiding that day....

St Patricks is not purely drinking ... infact i didn't drink at all.

Its a great celebration of history and heritage. A great day of music, song and dance... lots of new friends made & great good craic.

Well I went to see the Dubliners. Had a good old sing along and dance. My mammy is Irish and I lived in Ireland for a number of years. I saw some dodgy parades whilst there, but the one in Dublin was always great. Just a nightmare to get across the city.

Always confused me why the Irish prime minister spends it in America though!
