"Every time I open the door it’s on I keep telling my son he has to switch it off after going in there" He should switch it off before he gets in. His hands will be too cold otherwise

"Sometimes it's on and sometimes it's off. Sometimes it's off when I open the door and then comes on after a few seconds." Is that because cold electrons move more slowly?

"Sometimes it's on and sometimes it's off. Sometimes it's off when I open the door and then comes on after a few seconds. Is that because cold electrons move more slowly? " No, it's because of a switch that sticks in position sometimes.

"I just cleared all the shelves of food, removed shelves curled up inside there pulling the door closed behind me. I can't currently see anything and I don't know whether it's because the light has gone out or because my face is squeezed up against the fan. "

"Every time my fridge light goes on the block of cheese gets smaller...... any ideas ? Is this a Newtonian Law of sorts ?" Oh Granny.... I wish it was just the cheese here, but the milk level drops and chocolate cheesecake disappears as well

"I have a 50/50 freezer above fridge slimline model and the light is now permanently off. This is because, towards the end of last year, things started going radically wrong and it wouldn't go below about 10C in the fridge and -6C in the freezer. The compressor etc worked ok and cooled but only for an insufficient time, the defrost and control logic circuitry had other ideas. The problem seemed thermostat related but hard to diagnose. The thermostat was impossible to replace or test without wrecking the interior. In the end I disconnected all wiring to the control knob, with related on/off switch and interior light from the control box near the compressor and bridged the signal line which starts the compressor unit, using some 5 Amp fuse wire for safety.. Hey presto, now cooling properly so nothing wrong with the refrigerant gas etc. Currently, I'm powering the entire fridge via a mains segmented timer which has movable notches in 15 minute increments. On for 15 minutes with 45 minutes off, it was getting slightly too cold so I widened the interval to off for 60 minutes and at this time of the year it is perfect. I may have to go back to 15 on 45 off when the warmer weather comes but for now I've got a fridge that works well at virtually zero repair cost. All I had to do was apply my brain and sniff around the contacts with a multimeter, fool the control box and find a timer which was doing nothing elsewhere. Only drawback is that the light can't come on, hence my appearance on this thread. Beat that! Never mind. No new fridge needed!" But how are you going to spend hours of cheap entertainment opening and closing the door to see if the light stays on, you are going to have to completely rethink your Saturday nights
