When someone tries to get one over in you when they don't know that you are an expert in the field?

I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I've been working in the same (male dominated) industry for many years, so I'd hope that I at least have a vague idea of what I'm talking about. It does give me a feeling of quiet satisfaction when a new (generally male) ego in a suit comes in and tries to talk down to me - plus it means that I can get my box of crayons out to explain how and why they're wrong

I like it when they slowly dig themselves into a hole and you let them carry on digging. I find that letting them carry on down the wrong path in full view of everyone else who know what I am doing but that they are oblivious to is a suitable payback. Someone will eventually let them know at the most embarrassing moment

In my line they are either trying to push forgeries/fakes or st0len goods.Its nice to see them deflate when you call it out.The downside is telling someone that the item they have is a fake/forgery bought in good faith sometime in the past.

It happens a remarkable amount to me but I generally just leave it be and then fix whatever they have done wrong afterwards. Can't be bothered with arguments and grumping.

Drives my boss mad and he will often point it out but honestly just let them look stupid.
