I love a good scent, can't stand bad smells, I have sensitive little nostrils, but even with this superpower snozz I have, I find most scented candles smell like air... no scent.... Nadal.

Apart from Yankee candles, can anyone suggest any other decent candles? Or just decent scented gear in general? Plug ins etc, something that makes your gaff smell wonderful

I bought a scented candle in Savers recently that smelled really nice and cost something like £1:79. I can't tell you the brand because it went out of my head as soon as I took the wrapper off.

Apart from that Aldi do a really good range and so does Jo Malone. The difference in price is about a million pounds.

Plug ins make my nose hurt really badly and I wish people would stop using them

Asda wax melts 3 for a fiver they should say made in USA on them. They flood my living room and hall with gorgeous scents just pop 1 or 2 on an oil burner with a tea light under and you have lovely smells

Aldi Hotel collection are dupes of jo malone I have some of the perfumes and candles

I've got a Reed diffuser (if that's the thingies with the sticks?) Although it was an aldi/lidl job I can't smell much, I have got some glade one that actually smells decent. I've heard of the Joe malone ones, might get one for a special occasion (bottle of red, Barry white and some hand lotion) and the plug ins smell quite chmically don't they.

I'll deffo have a look at these Jo malone knock offs though.

Are the joe malones worth the dosh? I know their perfumes are nice so I'm assuming so.

In terms of candles it can be worth spending a bit more on them - the throw of a candle really does change depending on price point.

The White Company are good for midrange candles. If you have a TKMaxx or Homesense near you, they're definitely worth a rummage - you can find some bargains from well known companies.

Jo Malone can be worth it, definitely. There's also Penhaligon's, Diptyque (Tubereuse being a particular favourite of mine), Neom (which you can stumble across in TkMaxx) is great for that spa candle quality and if you're really wanting to treat yo'self Acqua di Parma has some beautiful candles.

The Aldi Pomegranate dupe of Jo Malone is very good and lasts for ages too.

Apart from that and a Yankee Candle - ‘Midsummers Night’, I tend to purchase diffusers and wax melts from a local company as the ingredients are natural.

My favourite candles are Ladurée. I can’t remember the names of all their scents but the dark blue one reminds me of a cosy home scent, being at home on a lazy Saturday in pyjamas with a roaring fire, warm knee high socks, and a cup of tea enjoying the comfort and familiarity of home.

The dark purple is called Arabian Nights or something similar and it’s lush. It’s woodsy, musky, and like being enveloped in all sorts of rich spices.

There’s one called paradise that reminds me summer on a tropical island a mix of seaside, fruitiness, and sunshine mixed together. It’s surreal.

There’s a light purple one that reminds me of a field of lavender in the French countryside.

I should mention I dislike most Yankee Candle and find their scents headache inducing as they seem artificial to me. There’s only one I like which is the smell of a Christmas tree and I burn it in every room of my house in the Christmas time.

I don't know if Jo Malone candles are worth the money because I've never had that much disposable income that I could bring myself to spend on a candle
