Occasionally I get a couple of horses where they ride past my window. Everyone is courteous in their cars. I watch as they majestically swish by.

Magnificent animals but then I am an animal lover, but I'm also scared of horses

Is anyone else? Or are you good with horses?

I love horses. We used to ride but weren't experts or anything. We had a pony when we were kids but my brothers were more involved with it than me.

I think their overall body size can be intimidating, plus they have a huge set of teeth

Not Local

I sat through most of the film Shalako at the weekend, or the Westerny bit anyway because I was enjoying watching the horses

I am better with horses than I am people. I am the Daddy of horses, love 'em

I lost my last 2 ponies in June 2023. One of them was my old boy I had for 27yrs. He was a bit of an idiot but he was my idiot and I loved him.

It is very weird living without having horses.

Up until a year ago I was riding regularly but haven’t ridden since the autumn. Horses are quite intuitive and can be very calming and serene. They can also be mutters and spook when a duck quacks. It is a privilege to share time with them. But they do break your bank.

No, that’s Janet Street-Porter you’re confusing them with.

Horses are very good therapy animals.

So if you genuinely are afraid, and want to do something about it, you could overcome it. They are incredibly sensitive to human emotions.

I can honestly say I'd never had any dealing with the equine world until I met my wife. I now think they are marvellous animals. They may keep me broke but seeing the joy they give my wife and daughter is priceless.

They have taken all over the country with competitions and those weekends away have been some of the best of my life

I have ridden since I was a young child (3, maybe). I still ride now, pain allowing and at a much slower pace than I used to. It's hard work getting on nowadays but it's worth it. I just wish it wasn't so expensive

I hope you get to ride more this year, Devon.
