Looking for some nice trainers to wear as everyday items.

Only decent ones I can find are New Balance 2002r for about £100.

Anyone recommend some nice trainers that don't break the bank?

I have a pair of those!

My vote would be Nike AF1 or New Balance 550. The extra £50 is worth it , they feel and look great & easy to clean.

If they’re just for everyday and they’re not for sports or training then you can wear any fashion trainers.

You can usually pick up unbranded fashion trainers in shops like Primark very cheaply.

McCarthur Glen are global and have 4 or so outlets in the UK. There’s on at J29 M1 They have thousands of branded trainers & usually 50-70% cheaper than online or city centre

A bit further is New Balance Flimby Factory, it’s a beautiful location and worth a visit , you can see Scotland from the shop. I’ve bought 550s for £20 there

couple, us we him her.

Retail outlet shopping centre.

We have Gunwarf Quays near us and they have a large Nike outlet shop, yes they have expensive ones but also have lots of bargains.

I'd avoid cheap trainers that have little to no support, they may look ok but lift the innersole and it reveals basically cardboard under.

£100 is probably a good investment as NB are good quality and will last.

My asics came from an one of there outlets stores feel good quality not a bad price. Feels to me better quality than new balance which feel cheap to.

I would recommend salomons to anyone if their fit suits you as they seem to last me for ages and I keep going back to them if I can afford them.

It is shocking how much they now cost

I've bought clothes from the outlet shops, like McArthur Glen.but not trainers. They don't necessarily have the same quality as their standard retail models, which has put me off from their trainers.

It's a scam that they can do this, implying that they are the same.

I wear some Next trainers (I have 3 different colours). They're currently retailing at £34 and I've had loads of compliments about them from people assuming they're some big brand.

Buy unbranded for general/fashion wear, unless you need specific sports shoes for sporting activities.

I got my feet profiled in a specialist running shop, (it involves running over an electronic pad, to determine how your foot lands, and where most support is needed), before I first bought shoes for serious training.

I have high arches, which need support, and I need plenty of cushioning in the heels. Mizuno trainers, particularly models designed for people with high arches, suit me well.

For day to day, general wear, I tend to choose whatever is available in black, real leather and fits well.

I also have several pairs of the Pumas which had wide eyelets for ribbon laces. They're not all that comfortable though because they're not high enough at the back and slip off the backs if my feet when I walk. They're pretty though so I'm loathe to get rid of them.

Getting some of the apps helps for discounts and sale periods. For example Nike often has some sales on and app codes. Plus for your birthday month you usually get a 25% off code for one purchase.

I wear ‘On’ or ‘Salomon’ as a casual trainer, very comfortable plus depending on the model, can look a bit smarter than the average trainer.

I wouldn’t run in them though - Hoka tick that box.

Most trainers get made in the same sweat shops in poor countries. I doubt stitching a big tick on the side makes them any more robust than other non branded trainers, tbh.

It can make a huge difference, clothing not so much but running shoes yes.

Obviously it depends on the distance and terrain involved but even just 5k in a pair of the wrong type of trainer can make quite an impact.
