Hearts or ashes?

So today is St Valentine's Day and the world is full of romance. Cards and flowers, chocolates and strawberries, red silk lingerie, sexy times for the lucky ones. But this year the date is shared with Ash Wednesday, a time for quiet reflection and sobriety as we look forward to Easter and the crucifixion.

So which type of narrative will the day bring for each of you fellow fabbers, hearts or ashes, or a little of both, or will it just be like any other day?

I hope today f’kin burns. … *sighs, I’m also a romantic so I’ll cry with what could’ve been’s in my tears, and hope everyone who’s with someone is going to hold them and never let them go.

.

My real dad died a few years ago on this date. Not my biological, my real dad.

It's always quite a weird time of year for me - losing a best friend and your dad in fairly quick succession has that effect, I'm not anything original.

Anyway, today I'm going to celebrate the myriad of love in my life. I feel like there's too much pressure on having this romantic love, celebrating romantic ideals when there's love to be found in friendships, in family, even our love for the world around us.

Today is both for me. Poignant reflections and love.

Ultimately it's just another day but I'm reflecting and a little sorry for myself too if honest.

It will pass though.

Tomorrow I will treat myself to half price flowers
