Ey up good folks

I had lemon curd earlier (and no, this is not some coarse euphemism) which I haven’t had for blooming years.

It instantly evoked happy associative memories from my childhood when I used to consume it regularly.

Are there any food stuffs/drinks that you associate with your younger years and if so, when was the most recent time you ate/drank them?

Mieliemeal (maize meal) porridge and Maltabella (sorghum) porridge. We often used to have it for breakfast, especially in winter.

I haven't had mieliemeal in over 30 years. Not since I moved out of home. I notice that Sainsbury sell imported Iwisa brand mieliemeal from South Africa. I'm tempted to buy a bag for the nostalgia. Thing is, I balk at buying 3kg or whatever just to satisfy my nostalgia. Lol

Maltabella, I could probably buy from a South African shop or Amazon. I just couldn't be bothered, generally.

Seriously how long have you got? Headmaster jailed for 23 years, Latin teacher, french teacher caught by Interpol and jailed for long periods of time.

95% brilliant time, but the 5% was truly horrendous. And coal tar always reminds me of the bad times.

Poached egg on toast.

Buttered bread or buttered toast with marmite.
