Depends on what the question was and how it’s said.

More times than not I would say ‘no’ was rude

No thank you - is polite.

No - is to the point and direct.

Both get the point across.

For example you get a message saying "let's meet"

Depends on the context it is used in. Sometimes no without thanks is most effective. Other times no thanks is warranted too.

its always better to be a bit more polite,,, a gentle easy let down tends to be accepted more gracefully and then you dont get the nasty remarks afterwards

“”Let’s not”, would be my reply.

Not to you personally OP but to someone who asked that question and I didn’t want to meet them.

Yep, pretty much this. Content and tone are going to make a pretty big difference.

No.

Why would I use a word of gratitude for something I'm not grateful for?

I'm often described as rude though. Even though as far as I'm concerned I'm perfectly polite

I literally had a message asking to see my dick

There was no hello, no how are you or any introduction. I found it quite rude.

So all I wrote was: 'No'

So like some peeps have said, it depends on the question.

I do find a stark "no" rude in most circumstances. But...if people have been rude to me on here, and they frequently are, I don't even give them a "no". I think with some people on Fab, you have to be a bit merciless. Everyone else gets a polite response.

I always say no thank you. I would feel too harsh just saying no unless id already said no previously a few times and they weren't listening.

It's not rude. I actually like seeing a message with a 'no', because it provides closure however disappointing it may feel for me. I do understand that women are inundated with messages, so it is what it is.

If it's in response to "let's meet" I'd say no.

Mostly I say no thank you, because, well, I'll polite anyone to death.... But blunt messages get blunt replies.

No is a complete and unambiguous sentence on its own.

People don't like hearing it because of this. There is less wiggle room for the No-sayer to be swayed into changing their mind.

More women should be comfortable with the power of No.

Even getting round to answering a message like that with 'no' is perhaps more effort than it deserves.

In that case it's fine to just say no.

If they say 'let's meet please' then you probably should add 'thanks' on the end.

Likewise if they send a 'FAFP' message.

It’s lying though, isn’t it?

No is a full and complete sentence. It’s not rude.

If someone asked you if you wanted to meet and you said Yes… that isn’t rude compared to Yes, Please.

In Japanese conversation the word no is never said, it's considered rude/abrupt/impolite, so it's never used.
