Leave nothing in your van... Or maybe an xlbully?

Get cameras fitted, might not stop them but at least you’ll know who it is.

Keep your eye out on eBay or similar for the same tools being sold

My van was taken away from me from a hotel car park in Walsall a few months ago , 30k lost all in all. It had a tracker and a pedal lock , they must have used a grinder on the pedal lock and some kind of jammer on the tracker. They smashed through the barriers in broad daylight!don't understand why the work #tolen is banned?

To park on nec when working £50 a day ,so got to park miles away, so vans vulnerable. Plus sprinter size ones have to park near exits ,so even more vulnerable. Im retired now ,it was always a worry.

couple, us we him her.

It's a fucking nightmare, police really couldn't care unless it's too make themselves look good.

Whilst removing tool's can be an option when at home not possible if you are mobile or working.

Even if you make it as difficult as possible they will still break in.

If you catch them at it unless you have back up they just carry on regardless and threaten you!

Insurance companies either will take your money and charge a bloody fortune and worm their way out of paying up or just flat out not insure you.

Stealing someone's ability to earn their living is just about the worst kind of scum.

Obviously there's worse things but it's right up there.

And people who buy cheap tools want locking up.

Why haven’t the apologists came along to argue that the poor thieves that have been let down by society need to feed their children too?

"I was looking for some vanguard steel boxes!"

Gutted. Try padlocking to the seats with bike locks in the meantime and round the tool box itself x

My entire van got taken between Christmas and new year, they just dragged it onto a low loader so I feel your pain x

Paper Town Central, Essex.

Anti drill plates fitted to the rear doors along with additional door locks on the rear doors.

Van vault for high value items.

However, now they just take the entire van on a low loader under the auspices of a recovery firm.

If they want it, they'll get it. You just gotta slow them down I'm afraid.

Saw a post on London Reddit. A photo of some tradesman's van with a sticker insulting the thieves. All top comments were about how the tradesman was being an asshole. People were legit getting offended because of thieves. The state of this society.

I felt bad reading about OP’s post.

But seems like your experience is far worse.

30k is a massive loss and that too for someone trying to make a honest living.

One night in freezing winter around 8pm a white van was parked outside a shop. Roads were empty. TFL car comes and warden issues a parking ticket! Unbelievable!!

On my way back, met the van driver. Tradesman just trying to do his job. It’s a busy high street, so he thought it would be better unloading after peak hours.

Crime does pay unfortunately.

I have heard that this kind of daylight break-ins of vans being common in Dublin in recent years. Never expected it here.

Yes. These great people can take the high moral ground when it’s not their money.

I need to pay ULEZ. For those folks that are condescending to me when I mention my increased business cost due to ULEZ £12.50 a day. I love to see the look on their face when they see the ULEZ charges billed to them.

All their grand posturing on other people’s blood & sweat.

We have created a very lax society where it is easy for these types to help them selves, extremely unlikely to get caught and if they do the punishment is paltry and they don't even have to pay back the value of the nicked goods.

People wonder why when l was working at busy times l wanted £200 a day ,not much when concidering all the overheads ,lm glad l retired ,gave all my tools away to a young apprentice nephew of the guy who fixes my vehicle, that felt the right thing to do , but tools and vans being nicked is so wrong ,its a tough job anyway. Can see why yoof of today want 'media' studies.the cost of fitted security to vans is high ,then they just get dragged onto low loaders ,terrible ,rant over lol
