Trainers soles certainly wear out more quickly than the tops, especially if they're leather.

I get my walking boots reheeled and solex

Which is why I've taken to mostly wearing hiking/climbing footwear these days, I like trainers and own several pairs, but rough terrain type footwear's just more robust

I think there is a place in Chesterfield that specialises in walking shoe, boot and rock climbing shoes. Probably not allowed to name in in a forum!

It's the classic saying 'Buy cheap, buy twice'

Avoid buying from the big shop with the initials SD, pay a little more and treat yourself to a high-end brand of walking shoes

I only buy Skechers these days, most comfort and longest lasting I have found.

Still only last a year max though.

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

Try a safety trainer/boot.

Failing that a walking boot. I had a pair of Scarpa walking boots that lasted for 10 yrs+ Did gardening & walking too in them.

A Chelsea work boot lasted 8yrs.

Trainers are made with cheapo jack crap materials in sweatshops abroad. Bet they cost £20/30 to make if that....?

Do you know what the difference between an £80 & £100 trainer is? That came from a fashion consultant! None.

Get a quality pair of Nike ACG, Adidas Terex, Solomon’s, Hoka’s or New Balance trail shoes

I use Solomon trail shoes - but they are so comfy that i wear them everywhere and tarmac really wears them down. I buy them from the outlet store to increase the km per £ ratio

I'm gutted that my current ones are now on a rapid decline - best walking shoes I've ever owned, except for my summer sandals.

Loaaaaaaads! I used to have a proper shoe fetish (in the non sexual sense). I binned all my heels and other impractical footwear when we moved but I still must have upwards of 20 pairs

I normally buy karrimor walking shoes/trainers or safety shoes from Screwfix.

I had my walking boots on for 10miles today, but only through the forest. I don’t wear them around town.

I had that with my work boots. A pefectly good pair of magnums, with the sole totally wrecked in a year. I tried getting them resoled, but the sole came away within a month or so.
