The Germans are up to their old tricks by taunting the English that they should be careful of German stronger lager at the upcoming football tournament.

Tom remembers a northerner visiting an East Angular pub and asking for a pint of bitter but none of that southern pish he said. After four pints of Abbot Ale he fell of his barstool dropping his Sporting Life and had to be carried home. What other regional differences have you noticed?

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

Bowler hats/flat caps.

ALL southerners/northerners wear them in England.

Half way up the M6 there’s a service station where you are obliged to change hats.

We have Joseph Holt. And it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg for a pint compared to the south.

To be fair as a general rule looking at popular traditional ales the South seems to be the home of stronger ales.

I always assumed this was because traditionally its always been the North grafting and carrying this Nation on its back. Thus less at liberty to get shit-faced on a school night. A few pints of a good moderate strength bitter will see you OK to go down Pit the next day. Seems to me traditionally the North has a greater requirement to keep the ABV sensible. But pure speculation of course.
