Seems to me that gyms are so incredibly popular nowadays and that got me thinking as to why this is?

Is it the pressure that social media has put on us to look a certain way or is it that people no longer do the physical jobs that were once common place? Or is it that it’s great for mental health and the release of endorphins?

Ps I’m not knocking people working out, I have a very physical job and still go boxing training.

All of the options you listed and people also recognise the health benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

I go for my mental health, to perv at the odd arse in tight leggings and to feel stronger. I have a belly but I'm not really bothered as long as I've had a sweat and feel alive. Xx

I think it’s a combination of things. I think there are the obvious health, fitness and wellbeing benefits, I think there’s the mental health benefits, I think there are social and interpersonal benefits.

I think whatever your reasons and however you do it, moving with intention and intensity for a few hours a week can only be good

Ps if you do decide to go to a gym, stay away from assault bikes. They are the devil in machine form

I go to the gym for multiple reasons , it’s great for stress relief. Helps with mental health . It’s important for living a long and healthy life . Helps you keep your independence in the later years of your life . Lowers all cause mortality. Gym also has swimming pool , steam room jacuzzi and red light therapy sauna which I use after every gym session which is a great way to chill out and relax . Also gets me out the house and keeps me busy and helps with my sleeping patterns as usually shattered when getting home

I think we're much more influenced by body image than we used to be. People also like the challenge that gyms give us, perhaps giving them greater opportunity to be in control of things in their life, especially compared to the crazy world around us.
