I think some do some don't, just their personal choice really. Unless they are proper vegans.

As I understand it from veggie friends eggs are OK as they aren't acutally animals yet just unfertilised eggs ! so yes veggies do, vegans don't xxxxxx

i wondered as a lady earlier said - 'yes - free range etc- BUT if a hen is free range there is a chance that the egg was fertilised and therefore had the potential to become a chicken and therefore 'meat' but would a veggie eat battery produced eggs even though there would be no chance of it being ferfilised? Bit of a conundrum?

Good luck!

I must confess I only have 1 friend that is veggie, and that's part of her religious belief. She does not like onion or garlic either, which is unusual for an asian!

You need to read the label to see if it contains egg derived ingredients!

lol - doesn't need to be half formed but still fertilised - thats what made me think earlier - you just can't really tell! if it had been left it could have hatched!

Free range flocks don't have cocks with them, just hens ususally. Not the commercial ones anyway. So ur ok re unfertilised eggs

Vegetarians do not eat Eggs or other dairy produce which requires the extinction of an animals life, therefore milk, cheese and so forth is generally acceptable unless the item is produced using eggs or animal fats etc, they do not eat chicken.

However different people have different views on how they like to live as vegetarians, depending on thier personal reasons for living such a lifestyle, such as ethical beliefs, personal taste, medical problems, healthy options etc.

So some vegetarians eat chicken, some eat dairy products, some eat fish but they all refer themselves to being vegetarian as this is an easy way of explaining thier eating preferences.

Those that consider themselves to be true vegetarians will not eat non meat products that have been prepared with meat products ie don't fry vegetarian sausages in the same pan you just did the pork sausages, don't even cut them with the same knife.

The only true vegetarians are perhaps vegans who are very strict in what they eat and won't even wear animal skin such as leather shoes etc.

so who is for some sausage

lol...been veggie here for about 10 yrs...and I keep chickens....have my rare breed chooks for breeding n selling and have my chooks for eggs.

The egg producers do not have a cockerel with them during laying season...that way i can ensure none of my eating eggs have been fertilised

all changes next year (if everything pans out as expected)....have a master plan to raise and eat my own meat....pumfrey2 and pumfretta will be sausage making machines

am i just missing something here or did you wake up one morning and think ...i know im going to start eating meat again next year? lol

Yeah I know but i must admit its surprising how many peole say 'you're not a really veggie..' etc....but then again I don't give a shite. I must admit tho due to the work i do i stay out in hotels now and again and usually the menu's are pretty poor for veggie choice. Stayed near Nottingham last week and out of 30+ choices 3 were veggie...ah well rant over...lol

if you eat fish then to me your not a veggie, but people dont eat meat for verious reasons, some just dont like it, some cant tolerate it and some dont agree with killing aminals for food, now i stopped eating meat many years ago when i was still at school after seeing something on telly which as a kid upset me and ive never eaten meat since, but to me a fish is still a living animal and has the rights to live as much as a cow does, thats not me preaching by the way i dont care what other poeple eat im just expaining how i see it, so to me if you eat fish your not a vegaterian, to me eating a fish is no different to eating lamb, its still a living thing thats been killed.
