Somewhere In The Ether…

Ey up good folks

I was thinking earlier (it hurt somewhat but I persevered nonetheless)….why are car tyres only available in black?

Why can’t we choose different colours? Pinks, purples, blues, reds, rainbow effect etc.?

Anyway, that was my wholly inconsequential musing for the day and I think I require a well earned lay down now.

White walls used to be quite popular in the US. Don’t think they ever caught on over here though.

It could well be; I’d really like some sporty purple/indigo tyres

My nan’s spare room.

I never wanted to do this. I always wanted to a lumberjack.

I believe rubber is actually naturally white and they dye it black.

I don't like the thought of you pondering all night OP so I've done some googling for you.

“The stabilizing chemical, carbon black makes the tires black. It prevents damage from UV light, draws heat away from parts of the car that tend to get hot when driving, and makes the tires durable.”

So there you have it.

I'm musing over why a 16 serving cake only ever seems to serve 1......

Would you not end up with rainbow coloured roads from all the rubber wearing off coloured tyres?? Can you imagine what car parks would look like with coloured burnouts, doughnuts and general skidmarks, after the local idiots have played there in their hot hatches....

Those skidmarks would look seriously bad if tyres were brown.....

I can imagine the results being submitted to the Tate Modern Gallery or possibly ending up as a Turner Prize contender
