Manchester

There will be close to 20 of us going up to Annan in the early summer.

We've heard some horror stories about booze prices going through the roof in Scotland with a ban on booze deals in supermarkets and minimum unit pricing.

We're wondering as there are so many of us, would we be significantly better off driving the 15 miles to Carlisle, bearing in mind most of them are very heavy drinkers, and one of the lads will be going up in a van, so plenty of space.

In England when good special offers are on, we can buy a standard lager for the equivalent of about 50-60p. Now if it's going to be 65p equivalent in Scotland, it isn't worth going out of our way, but if we're talking double the price or close to it, then it is. More so given Mr tends to drink premium drinks rather than fosters, carlsberg etc (which he calls p*sswater)

Thanks for your help fabbers!

The minimum pricing hasn't started up here yet mate! Still loads of good deals in supermarkets. 15 cans of tennents for 8quid! Hic!

Do they do the same deals as England, such as 3 crates of 12 cans of lager for 20 quid (or thereabouts) when one crate is a tenner (so it's like 3 for 2)

Any idea when minimum pricing is coming in?

Is it just the pubs that have a ban on "happy hour" type things then?

Thanks again for your help.
