I’ve got a great career, two awesome kids and I get to indulge in hobbies that I love like my band.

Relationship stuff is shit and confusing at present, but that’s the two sides of life I guess. Peaks and troughs.

As soon as I can invent that Time Machine I can fix things

I spend quite a lot of time doing (what a lot of people consider)not very much. I promised myself I would once I stopped working. It's excellent for the soul to be able to just 'be' sometimes

Totally agree with this. I think society tends to give people the impression that you have to always be busy or doing something during moments of freedom, but being able to just 'be' is really important.

I agree wholeheartedly. We are always told to look to the future, strive to get this and that and your life will be so much better. But we seldom enjoy the now. Just take time out for yourselves, the future will always be waiting for you, Mrs x

My life is pretty good actually and nothing really for me to complain about justifiably. But my current work is meh, and am looking for something else. Staying with my parents at the moment, which is lovely, but I would love to find a small space of my own that I can get creative with in decorating and modifying.

I do feel that life is passing me by, to an extent. Partly due to the speed at which life is moving, and no one honestly can possibly keep up with it all. Partly due to my introverted nature that makes me very content to stay at home when I'm not at work, and so I find it tricky to go out and do stuff and interact with people. And partly that I have no desire or want to be constantly busy all the time, as I find ways of adjusting my life to be easy and straight forward in a sense. I don't enjoy complicating things, so simplicity is the way forward for me.

Life’s good, I have fantastic kids & friends, good health & finances, lots of free time for travel and adventure. I made a huge impact in my 30s and 40s I’m wondering if it’s time to ease off into NXD / Trustee land of if there’s one or two more big challenges left. I can’t quite decide

I tend to think it’s shit but when I look it’s not that bad

Good points - live full time with both my sons, have joint custody of my daughter who also plans to move in down the line, self employed with a decent reputation for my work, own my house outright

Bad points - can’t stop living in past di d it hard to move on every time try just end up feeling guilty and missing my most recent ex, been a shit few years long term ex moved out nov 2021, met a new lass feb 2022, nearly died from heart attack June 2022, august 2022 childhood friend died, personality change after heart attack caused new lass to walk after 10 months in apr 2023, ended up in hospital again with suspected heart attack just before christmas told me stress was effecting pumping function of my heart and would sort itself out if avoid stress.

So this year trying to finally move on from last few years of shit, concentrate on business, on getting in good shape on sorting house out let everything else fall in place

I’m exactly where I need to be right now. From the way things started to go last year., to where I am now is beyond what I expected, in a good way.

So with that in mind, my life by the end of the year could be unbelievably great, as I’m not exactly where I could’ve been, which could be a hell of a lot better than I am right now.

Is that confusing enough.?

I’m just happy, enjoy life and what it has to offer right now,

Not exactly any more, the governments ridiculous reaction to covid decimated the industry I worked in, and my life followed (I wish I'd met a single person who had a bad time with covid or if they knew anyone who had, it would make having my life smashed a little easier to bare) I'm currently building from the ground up in an entirely new line of work which I didn't really want but there we go.

St Leonards

Good questions Fred. When I had the money and the expensive house, there was very little "me" in evidence.

Now, there's a level of "me" in evidence that I'm very pleased with, but not the money.

To get "me", I had to "wash" the other stuff out of my system.

So, all the groundwork is there, which makes me Larry's even happier cousin, but it's the rebuild that is the task before retirement, or else I'll remain his very happy but materially precarious relative.

I like a challenge .

All over

Sometimes the issue lies with Larry (whoever he is). Most people I know have their ups and downs including myself. Utopia only exists for some but we spend so much time looking for it, we miss some of the good stuff. I always think, 'therecare so many people worse off'. The saddest thing about getting older is you start losing people you love and that is not easy for anyone. Also thecpressures of the world ww live in creates far too much stress for so many people. Lots of people with very little are happy and others with almost everything struggle to find the happy corner. I am not worried about the time passing by but sad that the opportunities to fix things, make things better diminish as you get older as with some you have no control off. I am not too bad on the whole, thanks for asking

St Leonards

And "Utopia" deliberately means "no place" or "good place" as a direct translation.

Thomas More was playing with the idea of restless desires (always looking for something else, no matter what you have) when he wrote the book and coined the word.

I think society can be and should be a project always travelling to a better place, with the (very Buddhist/Vedic) realisation that a mind is always restless and seeking more to settle on and wonder about too.
