I'll try to keep this short. Just watched a true U.K. cold case, young girl 6 teen R4ped and slain. 25 years later case solved culprit caught. D N A scientists were able to identify the man as his blood samples were still held at a hospital where he was treated almost a decade before his arrest??

Confirms my suspicions that any blood samples taken by our doctors hospitals clinics etc are indeed sent for D N A analysis and the results kept on file in some central storage facility somewhere!!

I think our hair colour to our shoe size and everything in between is in a file somewhere.

Big Brother really is watching us methinks!

I mean it’s not really a secret that there’s a DNA database?? It’s pretty common knowledge

I suppose being on DNA database can also clear you?

Fingerprints are not as reliable now as they took them down from 11 points of matching to 3.

Good, if you've nothing to hide then you've nothing to fear and thank goodness for that if it means catching the creature responsible for ending someone's life or worse

That doesn’t necessarily mean that the blood has been put onto a dna database. More likely that the sample has not been disposed of and was obtained for a dna test.

I do think you are half right though as samples taken by the police in the 90s which were to be destroyed after 2 years appear to still exist.

Makes sick people easier to catch?

That's good no?

I don't think you have anything to worry about you know, if you haven't attacked someone

Like someone else said, the bloke was prob a suspect already and the old bill asked the doctors for it, although if they are sticking your dna on a database from blood samples you have given to the nhs then you should be informed and have the choice if you want it on there or not, seems a bit underhand otherwise

That was the point, Why would a hospital keep a blood sample for 10 years? The accused had a tiny op, but they kept a blood sample for 10 years? I have worked in and around hospitals for decades, and as I said in the post hospitals have not got the storage for millions of blood samples.

No the cat was let out of the bag.

Anyhow had a couple of private messages from someone who knows confirming the truth of it, and other things too.

It's all good so long as medical records are accurate, which definitely isn't always the case with the pressures on NHS admin staff. My friend had a rather serious medical issue after his test results were muddled up with someone else's, though fortunately he didn't get arrested.

"We should all have our d.n.a, taken at birth and kept on record, "

I'm pretty sure that will happen at some point down the line. It will be done purely for medical reasons but the police will have access to it

Think d.n.a. samples should be taken at birth and stored, would help solve crimes quicker and those who have nothing to hide wouldn't be affected so win win.
