" People don’t always understand that physical changes are relative. My weight hasn’t changed much, but I’m much softer than I used to be. Illness for a long time prevented me from exercise. Among my friends, I’m still the lightest - one of my friends is more than twice my weight - but I get laughed at if I mention health, exercise, the battle to regain some fitness and strength. Ailsa experiences the same. She had a child in her 40s, and her tummy is a lot softer than it used to be. But it’s hard for her to discuss among her friends, for the same reason. It’s about how much you’ve changed, not how you compare to someone else. Some people don’t always understand this Xx | |||

Earlier I typed and deleted an essay. About how I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago through emotional stress. I lost it in the unhealthiest, saddest of ways. But everyone I know commented on it positively. It's weird how much of our self-worth is tied to what we see in the mirror, in our photos and through external validation. Earlier I typed and deleted an essay. About how I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago through emotional stress. I lost it in the unhealthiest, saddest of ways. But everyone I know commented on it positively. It's weird how much of our self-worth is tied to what we see in the mirror, in our photos and through external validation.
